Welcome to The Red Eared Slider site !!                                        The #1 turtle site on the net !!                                        Here you'll find information on Red Eared Slider!

Lighting

Lighting: Lighting is needed when growing any turtle whether artificial sunlight lighting indoor or natural sunlight both will work well (but nothing is better then the real thing). There are 3 type of light that are artificial sunlight which are :

UV-A : Provides psychological benefits for reptiles

UV-B: Give vitamin D-3 to turtle shell

UV-C: VERY BAD FOR RED EARED SLIDER OR ANY OTHER TURTLE MY DAMAGE DNA.

Full Spectrum: REPTISUN 5.0(shown at top), REPTISUN 2.0, ESU Reptile Daylight Lighting, etc... Are full spectrum light which provides UV-B and A light very good and very expensive around $20-$28 (whoo!) and the Hood cost $30 and up (depending what size your tank). That a lot of $$$$$$$$$. It good for your Red Eared Slider, but it required (ahhh). It is required that you have a basking light though.

Basking Light Bulb/Dome: ESU Reptile Heat and Light Dome with Porcelain Socket (shown at bottom), ZooMed Repti Basking Spot Lamp, T-Rex Dayspot Light Bulb, etc... Are basking light bulb. These product are not required, but you do need a basking light (i.e. old desk lamp).
