Welcome to The Red Eared Slider site !!                                        The #1 turtle site on the net !!                                        Here you'll find information on Red Eared Slider!

Heating

Heating: Red Ear Slider and most Semi-Aquatic turtle will need a heater. you will need a submersible heater . You don't really need a submersible heater if the tank water temperature is warm (about 75 F- 82F ). If water temperature fall below 75 F then tour turtle will not eat because it cannot digest the food. if the temperature go greater then 82 then it will make there metabolism speed up meaning that they will poop more. If the temperature falls below 75 F then I recommend the Hagen Thermal Pre-Set Heaters (shown on right).

Thermometer: BUY AN AQUARIUM THERMOMETER! You'll need a thermometer because it tell you the exact temperature. Buy one before you get a submersible heater because you can't trust the submersible heaters with recalibrated feature, and it may have a risk of overheating.

The Death Zone: it is the way it sounds. the Death Zone is when it is to warm to hibernate yet to cold to eat and digest food. It ranges from 65 to 74F.
