American Flyer Engines & Handcars For Sale
(last updated September 5, 2009)
I am helping three people sell their collections.  This page lists the American Flyer engines that I have received from them.  These are in hand and ready to ship upon receipt of payment.
I show 2008 Greenberg book values for reference purposes, but these should not be interpreted as asking prices. Make an offer they can't refuse!  Email me: theupstairstrain@yahoo.com.  Please include your address so I can calculate shipping charges and send you an invoice with the total.

Separate pages show:

#48020 Milwaukee Road GP-9 diesel engine made in 1998, C-10, never out of the box.  $200.
I also have the matching caboose for sale.
740 Handcar.  VG- $65.
It's missing a lantern and the running board points on two corners, but it runs great!

Yes, that is a knuckle coupler you see on one end!  No, Gilbert didn't make it that way, and you'll never see one like it on a real railroad.  Just for fun, I thought I'd try it out to see how many cars it will pull.  Check out the movie on YouTube:

The problem is that the handcar is too light; it doesn't have enough traction to pull as many cars as it has power for - the wheels just spin if you connect three cars to it, but the video proves that it will handle two just fine.
Stay tuned!  There are lots more coming.
