Folks, this is what the term "high performace" is all about. You want rocket speed? You got it with an International 505. It's rumored to have a jet engine hidden underneath the bow, but I think it's just one heck of a fast boat. It maxes out at a mere 280lbs, making it a full-blown speed demon. Sailed at advanced levels only, this dinghy makes even a Laser look slow. Orginally called the "Coronet" and at 18ft in length, it was later trimmed down in size by it's original designer John Westall and renamed the "505". The unique shape of the hull is somewhat relative to a 470, but it tends to plane more downwind due to it's monsterous spinnaker, and the hull is a foot or two longer as well. As mentioned before, you have to have plenty of sailing experiece to even step in one of these babies, and lots of pratice to get good. |

I don't have enough experience sailing a 505 to write my own articles, so instead I will provide you with the best (and only the best) 505 material I could find on the net from other sites.
