Blue Jay Regatta Schedule
A Blue Jay is an excellent boat for a youth sailor coming out of the optimist fleet, or someone who wants to get involved in the sport. It is quick, stable, and responsive. You can't just go from an Optimist to a Laser. A Blue Jay teaches you how to use a spinnaker and a jib, making it an ideal intermidiate boat. Even though a Blue Jay isn't the most popular boat, it trains you for the more high performance boats. I loved sailing a Blue Jay and I even won quite a few major regattas(not to brag, of course). I am now moving on to a Club 420 so that I can expand my racing career. But I will eventually get an old wooden blue jay and fix it up when I need a break from my 420.
