The Social - 2nd Street, Walker's Pt.

My friend and I went to The Social a couple of months ago, so I wanted to mention it because I really thought it was excellent. A wonderful, beautiful, and cozy place, and - as redundant as it is starting to sound - also has beautiful cream city brick walls (I never tire of them, though!!) with a large mural on the south wall that suits the casual jazz theme. (click on their virtual tour!!) A lovely bar area, candles, artwork, and jazz playing through the sound system (when I was there), this is a casual but classy place. We sat at a high, small table, sitting on stools by the front window. I ordered the portabella risotto, and it was truly delicious. Beautiful presentation, interesting taste and textures, but on the day I went, I would have loved a slightly larger portion for the price. (about $11) But since my brother is a chef, I can appreciate the work that goes into creating unique dishes, so I wouldn't complain. (Food is art as well.) I know that business was struggling a bit, probably because it's in a really odd location for a restaurant of this caliber.
