Best Video: Resurrection by Sassy Kitten (Award)
Fandom: Sin City (film) - general
Obsessive24: This is one of the, if not the, most well-edited vid I have ever seen. It is simply amazing and takes my breath away every time I see it. I also really enjoyed how the three storylines were organised in the course of the vid. I can't even pick out favourite moments - this whole vid is simply a revelation.
Txlsplash: An amazingly well edited video! I loved how the three stories were connected, and the clips just flowed together in a marvelous way. The effects were excellently placed, not overdone and very cool looking, especially the negative-fading clips that went with the piano chords. My favorite part is from 2:40 to 3:00. This video is a wonderful (running out of adjectives here) display of Sassy Kitten's talents!

Best Video Runner Up: Wild by Sweetie (Award)
Fandom: Tru Calling - shipper - Tru/Jack
Obsessive24: This is a fantastic song for the 'ship, with a lovely driving beat and on-point editing. I loved the varied editing methods and effects throughout the vid - the drum fills starting at 3:17 are simply brilliant; the use of black is especially striking in the silence. The flash/gunshot at 1:20 is also a highlight for me, as is the flash-to-blur with the sped-up shot of Jack at 3:37.
Txlsplash: A great song for a Jack/Tru video, and the editing is fantastic. I love the bright effects used throughout the video. I love at 0:56 when the zoom out clips start going really fast to the beat, and the way it leads into the chorus. Gives me shivers. The red flashes starting at 1:52 are excellent as well.

Best Action: Smooth Criminal by Di (Award)
Fandom: Léon/The Professional (film) - general/action/narrative
Obsessive24: This vid has really impressive editing, especially considering it appears that you made it in good old WMM. I love how nearly every one of the snappy keyboard beats has a corresponding gunshot to it. The knife!neck at 0:28 never ceases to give me a happy - it fits great with the music. I also love the clip choice at 2:38! The action is well-paced and I really liked how it played off the more emotional moments, especially in the sequence starting at 2:56. The brief flashback at 3:37 is also nicely constructed.
Txlsplash: I love how the song goes with the video. I've never seen the movie, but I can easily tell what it's about from the song and the clips. The video tells the story in a very clear and interesting way that doesn't detract from the character insight and the action. I love the piggy at 1:15, the clips from 1:57 to 2:06 are great and slightly terrifying, and I really love 3:30 to the end.

Best Action Runner Up: The Burly Man by Mr Anderson (Award)
Fandom: The Matrix (films) - action
Obsessive24: Excellent action editing, especially the well-paced utilisation of the original footage. I especially liked the split-second lull in 2:39. I have a soft spot for vids with no effects/filters whatsoever; it's wonderful to see a completely "clean" vid be this good just by virtue of old-school editing. I also really liked the tongue-in-cheek humour: the clip/lyric associations are consistently fantastic.
Txlsplash: Very fast paced ass-kicking video. It does my heart good. The minimal use of effects is intriguing and works well with this video (The Matrix doesn't need effects to look amazing). I like the dagger twirling at 0:49, it goes well with the music. 1:46, the change in the music goes well with the clips. I like the pole twirl thing at 2:01 also.

Best Mood Piece: Somewhere We'll Meet Again by Heather (Award)
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (film) - tearjerker/shipper - Cloud/Aeris
Obsessive24: I love the simple and powerful narrative, and how the melody drives the vid all the way through. The mood is wonderful, and the subtlety of the editing offset everything to great effect.
Txlsplash: Yay, Final Fantasy VII! A great game. As far as I know, the movie hasn't come out yet, so I don't know how Heather got her hands on the footage. The video is done really well, and tells a very clear story, and is really moving. The clips are beautiful, and the music fits really well with a lot of the chorus lines. My favorite part is at 3:47. It creates a great effect with the music and the clip.

Best Mood Piece Runner Up: A Little Less Conversation by Shoopdancer (Award)
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer - comedy/shipper - Xander/Cordelia
Obsessive24: This is such a fun, cute vid, with great editing and lyric-clip matches. Elvis just feels so old-school and is a great match for the mood of the vid. :D
Txlsplash: A highly fun and cute video. It reminds me of all the funny little moments Xander and Cordelia had together back in the old school Buffy days.

Best Narrative: All is Full of Love by Becky (Award)
Fandom: Smallville/Batman (crossover) - AU/shipper - Chloe/Bruce
Obsessive24: This is an amazingly well-told AU story. The clip selection is wonderful, and I appreciate your time and effort in altering the colour tones of some clips so they looked like they belonged in the same 'verse. The composites are brilliant. On top of that, the editing is also on-point (I'm a sucker for bass-driven cutting), and the effects are subtle and effective. It's just a fantastic vid all around.
Txlsplash: I can tell a lot of work went into this video, and it is truly impressive. From the scene selections to the edited TV screens, it is clear that a lot of time and thought went into this.

Best Narrative Runner Up: Smooth Criminal by Di (Award)
Fandom: Léon/The Professional (film) - general/action/narrative

Best Shipper: Wild by Sweetie (Award)
Fandom: Tru Calling - shipper - Tru/Jack
Reviewed above.

Best Shipper Runner Up: Feeling Good by Astarte (Award)
Fandom: Veronica Mars - shipper - Logan/Veronica
Obsessive24: This is a beautifully insightful look into Logan's character. I think it speaks a lot that I don't even watch VM and yet from this vid I get a really good understanding of what drives the character and his relationship with Veronica. Fabulous editing; the split screens are utilised sparingly and seem really meaningful when they do happen. I particularly enjoyed the face-punching as the music crashes in at 0:53, and the clip selections around the second verse.
Txlsplash: An excellent look at Logan and Veronica. There's a lot in this video about Logan, and his relationship with Veronica is a large part of it. The editing is excellent, and the effects pretty and well-placed.

Best Insight: Counting Bodies by Milly (Award)
Fandom: Angel - relationship study - Angel/Darla & Connor
Obsessive24: An awesome study of the whole Darla/Angel & Connor storyline. The colour effects are superb, and the stop-and-start editing is very effective with the music. My favourite bit is at 2:59, that just fit fabulously with the music. The text overlay starting at 3:25 was great, I love how you played around with it.
Txlsplash: A very dark, eerie character study of Connor and Angel. The intervals of black are very effective, and the coloring is just really well done! I especially like the shot of the crib, and the shot of Darla's belly with the color at 0:15.

Best Insight Runner Up (joint runners-up; presented in no order):

Feeling Good by Astarte
(Award)
Fandom: Veronica Mars - shipper - Logan/Veronica
Reviewed Above.

Touched by Cec and Kaycee (Award)
Fandom: Lost - relationship/character studies - Jack, Kate & Sawyer
Obsessive24: This is a great study of the dynamics between these three characters and their respective backstories; I thought the choppy editing was very effective. The effects lent a surrealistic feel to the vid, which I also enjoyed and thought it added really well to the mood.
Txlsplash: An excellent Lost video, with great editing and some very cool music. I always liked the love triangle going on between Jack, Kate and Sawyer, and this video captures it really well.

Best Overview: Stop the World by Ryan (Award)
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer - general
Obsessive24: This is a great, fast-paced look at the whole series. I'm really impressed by how you squeezed the entire seven seasons of Buffy into one neat 3-minute package. The rhythm is fantastic. The bits I particularly enjoyed were the shots of scenery and setting; they gave some nicely-paced respite from the action and face-shots. Oh, and thank you for making even 6x07 full screen - the stretched-clip-nazi in me thanks ye profoundly. ;)
Txlsplash: Ryan did an amazing job creating an overview of the entire series, while looking into Buffy's character at the same time. The editing is fantastic, and the effects are well placed. The video encompasses all things Buffy in a great way.

Best Overview Runner Up: Touched by Cec and Kaycee (Award)
Fandom: Lost - relationship/character studies - Jack, Kate & Sawyer

Awards for Excellence
Awarded to videos that did not win awards in the conventional categories, but both judges thought were outstanding. Presented in no order.

Shh by Corn_Child (Award)
Fandom: Firefly - relationship study - Simon/River
Obsessive24: I love the tone of this video; the music really added a beautiful layer of complexity to it. Great editing, I especially liked the speeding-up of certain shots. The ending is also gorgeous with the brief shot of the ship over River. The light and transition effects are wonderful and worked well with the music.
Txlsplash: A great look at the Simon and River relationship. The thing that really caught my attention in this video were how great the effects were. They were all done in such a way that made it look clean. I especially loved the speeding up of clips, like at 1:13, and 1:51. The blurry transitions and the white bars that appear throughout the video add a lot to it.

Lullaby by Gilda (Award)
Fandom: Silence of the Lambs (films) - general
Obsessive24: This is a wonderfully surreal vid with great editing and effects. I haven't seen the film, but I really loved the recurring motifs of the dolls, photographs and flashes of sinister images. A really well-put together vid.
Txlsplash: I don't really know what's going on in the clips, but that doesn't matter because it's a really creepy video anyways. The music and the flashes of color help create an eerie atmosphere which works really well.

Awards for Achievement in Vidding
Judges' picks from videos that did not win awards in the above categories. Presented in no order.

Obsessive24's Picks:
Candyman by Yuna (Award)
Fandom: Once Upon a Time in Mexico (film) - character study - Sand
I have to admit I was initially scared by the Britney Spears song, but man, this vid is great. The juxtaposition between the song and the clips is wonderfully cheeky. I particularly like the pacing, and the cleverly-matched gunshot clips. Haha - is that a bit of subliminal slashing going on at 0:52? I dig. ;)

This Woman's Work by Foomatic (Award)
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer - tearjerker/shipper - Willow/Tara
I really like the mood of this. You chose some very beautiful clips and the result is hypnotic. The sound bites are utilised very beautifully. I especially liked how toward the end the clips started speeding up to fit the swell in the music.

Txlsplash's Picks:
Let me just start off by saying that I'm baffled as to why both of my picks for the awards are Black Hawk Down videos. I've never seen the movie, and I had never really thought about watching it. That being said, let me discuss the videos now.

Zombie by Jennifer B. (Award)
Fandom: Black Hawk Down (film) - general/action
The thing that I really like about Zombie is the ugliness of war that is shown throughout. The song and the clips go together and create an atmosphere of chaos and hopelessness for both sides.

Everybody Out of the Water by Mishka Marie (Award)
Fandom: Black Hawk Down (film) - general/action
Everybody Out of the Water is well edited, and relies mostly on good clip selection that matches the music instead of effects. It is fast paced, but at the same time shows the inevitable grunginess of the fighting going on.
