Best Video: Confession by Becky (Award)
Smallville (with Moulin Rouge footage) - AU/shipper - Chloe/Lex
Obsessive24: Absolutely brilliant idea and execution. Wonderful clip choices, the intercutting between them is incredible in terms of movement and pace, and on top of all that the whole dance - both the metaphorical and literal components - also matches the music beautifully. The effects are subtle and lend a lot to the cohesion of the vid without being distracting to the eye. You always amaze me with the amount of work and detail that go into your vids, and this is certainly no exception.
Txlsplash: Once again, Becky blends clips from two different media together in an amazingly seamless way. The dancing from Moulin Rouge goes perfectly with the music and the Smallville clips. They bring a passionate tone to the whole video. I can't imagine how much time and effort went into this video. I especially like the clips used at 1:36. Also, the switching of the clips at 3:33.

Best Video Runner Up: The Good Life by Gilda (Award)
Once Upon a Time in America (film) - general

Best Action: Firestarter by Andrea (Award)
Angel/Buffy the Vampire Slayer - action
Obsessive24: Great action sequences! I liked the use of interlaced shots in the intro. Wonderful timing also, for example 0:12 and the ensuing explosions, 1:50 or 3:12, but there are many more moments like that all through the vid and definitely shows the amount of effort that you put into it. The way the effects mirrored the clips was also very cool, such as the zooms starting at 0:25.
Txlsplash: So much fire! The repeating clips and the quick flashes of fire at the beginning were done very nicely. The sped up clips also worked very well with the music. I liked the part dedicated to Gwen, she is a very under-vidded character.

Best Action Runner Up: Charge of the Valiant by Lisa (Award)
The Last Samurai (film) - action
Obsessive24: There's really cool internal motion in this vid - I especially liked 0:24 and 1:03. The blue-toned and negative filters also worked well in context. The mood is lovely - I especially liked the sequence starting at 0:39.
Txlsplash: There are some very well placed clips in this video. I really like the section that starts at 2:33 when he turns around to the end. There is a feeling of urgency throughout that adds a lot of tension. The still clips interspersed with the action clips are very effective, such as at 2:38.

Best Mood Piece: The Good Life by Gilda (Award)
Once Upon a Time in America (film) - general
Obsessive24: Gorgeous juxtaposition between the music and clips, really bringing the American Dream theme into sharp focus. I especially liked the start and the "don't try to fake romance" sequence. The mood of this vid is wonderful and I love the subtlety and composition of the fades/overlays. I'm not familiar with the source, but I'm assuming the colouring in this vid is your own input and thought it really added a lot to the overall feel.
Txlsplash: I love the satirical aspect of this video. I especially liked the section at 0:24, where the focus switches back and forth between the violence and crime, and the party/celebration. There are very few videos that use this type of music, and it is probably very difficult to pull off, but Gilda made it work perfectly for this video.

Best Mood Piece Runner Up: Fix You by yorkshirewench (Award)
The Golden Hour (UK) - general
Obsessive24: Lovely lyric-based cutting and great clip choice and pacing throughout. I especially like the subtle lyric match at 0:41 as the camera pulls back slowly, the shot of the helicopter starting at 2:39 as the guitar solo breaks, and the slow fade-ins and outs in the ending.
Txlsplash: I actually got very nostalgic after seeing this video, and I haven't even seen the show! The video is inspirational and depressing at the same time, but it works very well. I especially like the beginning, it immediately sets the mood for the rest of the video.

Best Narrative: Confession by Becky (Award)
Smallville (with Moulin Rouge footage) - AU/shipper - Chloe/Lex
Reviewed above.

Best Narrative runner up: My December by Basketkase543 (Award)
Spider-Man 2 (film) - shipper - Peter/Mary Jane
Obsessive24: I loved the cutting and pace in this; wonderful attention to beats and dynamics. Drum machine beats are awkward to edit to because they can come off as monotonous, and I thought you did a wonderful job varying it up with a mixture of quick and slow cuts and internal motion. The running as the first chorus kicks in at 1:25 is particularly evocative, and I love 1:38 where he hits the ground on the beat. I also really enjoyed how the slow music played off action sequences - it gave a beautiful, surreal mood to the vid, particularly at 3:16.
Txlsplash: A great insight into Peter's thoughts throughout the movie. The cuts go to the beat very nicely, but don't detract from the flow of the clips and music.

Best Insight: Queer by Fabella (Award)
The O.C. - shipper - Ryan/Seth
Obsessive24: Great editing and emotional storytelling. I love the degree of intimacy in this vid - it's a poignant look into Ryan's character and you made the slash storyline seem so real and affecting. Fresh clip choices and lovely internal motion. I especially loved the way you stressed the dynamics in the music, for example at 0:41, 1:16 or 1:49. The overlay at 0:43 is extremely beautiful.
Txlsplash: I liked how this video was still very gritty while telling a romantic story. I don't really know what's going on in the clips since I haven't seen the show, but the story that is being told is very clear and palpable.

Best Insight Runner Up: Protection by aycheb (Award)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - character/theme study - season 6 Buffy/resurrection

Best Overview: Protection by aycheb (Award)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - character/theme study - season 6 Buffy/resurrection
Obsessive24: Gorgeous, understated editing with lovely composition. The insight that this vid provides is just amazing, and the music adds complex layers of tenderness and intimacy. I love the thematic parallels between "now" and clips from earlier years. I also really liked the cutting to the fill starting at 1:50, it was a lovely change in pace. The ending is fresh and unassuming, and really wrapped up this vid in a great way.
Txlsplash: A wonderful insight into Buffy's character during her post-resurrection period. I really liked the quick flashes to the fire (those are always nice), and the beginning sequence with the continuous walking. I thought the video ended in a very interesting, unique way.

Awards for Excellence
Awarded to videos that did not win awards in the conventional categories, but both judges thought were outstanding. Presented in no order.

Braveheart by foomatic (Award)
Braveheart (film) - general
Obsessive24: Beautiful mood and narrative - I loved the use of sound bites and the clear portrayal of the storyline. The mixture of close-up face shots and longer, more scenic/stylised shots is gorgeous and showed a great sense of pace. The clip movement to the beat at 3:43 is heart-wrenching.
Txlsplash: Foomatic created a very touching video. Although I don't remember the movie at all really, it's still very heartrending. That's very difficult to do, and it was pulled off very well. I especially like the ending, and the dialogue that is dispersed throughout. The sound effects that went along with the flashes were great.

Sin City by zero nephilim (Award)
Angel/Buffy the Vampire Slayer - AU trailer to the style of Sin City
Obsessive24: An incredibly unique vid with great clip choice; the lip-synching in particular is inspired. Wonderful cutting starting from about halfway in - my only regret is that it's so short I couldn't really get a feel for what is unmistakably great editing skills before it was all over!
Txlsplash: The trailer soundtrack gives a very gritty feel to the Buffyverse, and it works very well. There are many parts that look great, and the matching of the sounds to the show is seamless. I liked the Wesley bits starting at 0:45 with the shotgun matching the sound effect.

Born to be Wild by Shoopdancer (Award)
Firefly - general
Obsessive24: A fun and comprehensive overview of the series! I especially liked the internal motion at 1:16 and 2:11, the explosion at 2:07, and the white flashes on the cymbal crashes.
Txlsplash: A light, funny look at the Firefly verse. I get a sense of closeness of the crew from the video as well as lots of fun! I'm constantly reminded of Mal's awesomeness.

Drive by Ringwench (Award)
Supernatural - character study - Dean
Obsessive24: Lovely on-point editing, especially the quick fades in the disc-scratching parts. I love the well-timed clip at 0:48, and also the double on-beat internal motion at 1:19 and 1:20 respectively, and again at 2:11, 2:12 and 2:13 with the gun discharges and then the guy hitting the wall. A great study of Dean and his relationship with Sam.
Txlsplash: I've noticed that Supernatural has lots of very beautiful shots, and they are utilized in this video very well. Great lyric matches, both metaphorical and literal.

Awards for Achievement in Vidding
Judges' picks from videos that did not win awards in the above categories. Presented in no order.

Obsessive24's Picks:
The Phantom's Obsession by Heather (Award)
Phantom of the Opera - character study - the Phantom
Great mood in the intro; the bit where the music crashes in is very evocative. There's some fantastic internal movement, such as the quick zoom-in at 0:32, the flick of the cloak at 2:43, or the sword at 3:10. I love the increase in pace for the choruses - the movement in the clips matched the change in music very well.

The Highway by Matt (Award)
The Fast and the Furious - trailer
Great pacing and selection of clips/sound bites for an excellent trailer feel. I can definitely imagine seeing this in the theatres.

I Will Find You by Shazzer (Award)
Lord of the Rings - AU/shipper - Eowyn/Faramir
Gorgeous emotional resonance, which is especially impressive considering the AU nature of this vid. The match of audio and visuals made this an excellent mood piece. I especially loved 2:56, 4:19, and the coda.

Txlsplash's Picks:

She Says by Cec and Kaycee (Award)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - shipper - Buffy/Spike
Great use of effects throughout the video. Fast, crisp editing. I like the brightening of the clips, and the flashes that go along with the beats. I like how there is a strong build up before each chorus kicks in, like at 0:41, 1:32, and 2:45.
