Professional Experiences Around The World
My professional life
started in Tokyo after completing my Masters at University of Tokyo.
Although I don't know Japanese language very well, I rarely faced
any problem to perform my duties. Thanks to Japanese
generosity and overwhelming explanation power. I worked in Japan as a researcher,
design engineer,
project and
consulting engineer. Japanese work ethics and passion for job built
a rare professional asset that paves the foundation of professional
life. Even after migrating to North America, I am still continue to use
my biggest asset to build any project from scratch.
- Involved in
Shoulder Pavement Skid Resistance Test and it's evaluation
to reduce pedestrian accident
(adapted research/operation methodologies for micro texture
surface measurement)
- Tire
simulation test to asses the impact of winter season driving
conditions
- Marshal test
for new porous pavement asphalt design
- Porous
pavement design features that reduce the traffic safety in
expressway;
examined vehicle safety on
test-course
-
Performed experiments on
pavement skid-resistance
-
Performed
concrete plant quality control tests, modified pre-stress
concrete design site drawing, assisted in implementation of
pre-stress concrete construction for airport apron area
-
Prepared detailed drawings using AutoCAD;
supervised QC tasks for asphalt plant; prepared reports.
(Haneda
is Japan's largest airport and consistently ranks among the
world's busiest passenger airports (ranking
fourth in
2005),
even though nearly all of its flights are to destinations
within
Japan.
By passenger throughput,
Haneda is the busiest airport in Asia, handling 62.3
million passengers in
2004[1].)
Project Engineer at Ken_O-Do Expressway, Ohme, Tokyo
-
Performed
asphalt plant quality control tests, modified porous
pavement design based on calibrated data, performed pavement
strength tests to verify the pavement post-construction
specifications, assisted in implementation of porous
pavement and concrete construction for Ken-O-Do Expressway
in western Tokyo, Japan
- Worked
with new method for constructing porous pavement for
circular expressway and analyzed safety aspects and driver
visualization issues using simulation techniques; prepared
reports for clients (Outer Circular Expressway connecting
five prefecture surrounding Tokyo metropolitan, largest
project undertaken by
Japan Highway Public Corporation)
Hokoku
Engineering Corp. Professional Experiences
Performed capacity, delay and safety analysis of
intersections in Tokyo as part of study to convert
the intersections to signalized intersections and to
improve LOS; analyzed traffic and road environment
impact on signalization; evaluated safety
performance of signalized intersections; prepared
reports for client.
Evaluated signal network performance and
optimization of subsystems; used real-time systems
management to monitor, manage and evaluate changing
conditions to improve and maintain system
performance.
Analyzed transport development plan for new
subdivision in western Tokyo, including the transit
network and the transport implications of a
commercial centre; prepared trip generation and
assignment analysis; investigated traffic flows,
parking, traffic speeds, and pedestrian movements;
prepared reports for clients.
-
Represented
Japadacca Ltd. during marketing of proposals and
succeeded in winning three projects with a total
value of $US 130,000 from Japanese aid agency (JICA)
using technology transfer strategy.
Estimated budgets; prepared bidding contracts; and
supervised subcontractors.
Developed GIS database for Dhaka (Bangladesh) city
transport master plan; set GIS standards; managed
GIS team for traffic and social surveys; analyzed
data; prepared reports for clients.
CAD Design Engineer - 3D Design
Experience and Software Technical Support
-
Conducted field investigations in Tokyo on
intersection capacity; analyzed impact of signal
timing phasing proposals; performed safety
performance audits; recommended remedial measures.
-
Developed a technique to convert 3D to 2D drawing,
tested and evaluated system; setASTM and ISO
standards; created new LISP code for CAD; oversaw
CAD training.
Ryerson
University Research and Experiences
NSERC Project Assistant (AUTO 21 and Transport
Canada Funded Project)
-
Conducted and organized in-depth study of safety at
70 signalized intersections in Toronto.
-
Assembled data from City of Toronto traffic volume
files and from police accident reports, sketches and
written descriptions. Organized
data collection team to obtain
data from field surveys at the intersections.
-
Developed crash risk models for side impact crashes
at signalized intersections. The models were based
on the relationship between distribution
disturbances and driver perception-reactions time.
-
Proposed countermeasures to reduce the number of
side-impact crashes; published results in
conferences.
Teaching
Assistant at University of Windsor
-
Responsible for student tutorials in signal design
and timing plans, traffic forecasting techniques,
assisted students working on traffic impact studies
for their term assignments, graded examinations.
-
Assisted professor in the preparation of journal
articles (conducted literature reviews, conducted
experiments, and compiled and analyzed research
results).
-
Managed the
Oakville GO Station parking expansion
feasibility study and recommend future
infrastructure improvements, presented the findings
with Town Oakville, Halton Region and GO/Oakville
Transit.
-
Analyzed and calculated the impact of expansion of
parking structure of
Whitby GO transit station.
-
Performed traffic operation analysis for Langstaff
Gateway/Markham
Centre, future Langstaff GO station parking
relocation and future Jane TTC subway station access
options.
-
Researched on traffic performance of Fused-Grid
