The Giver

By Lois Lowery
Rating PG

The Giver is about the future and what it’s like. When scientists can control the weather, and when everything’s different, but not, (see if you can figure that one out).

It’s about a boy and a man who are called the Givers. They live in a world where everyone and everything is the same. First of all there are no colors, no mountains, and no animals. When you turn a special age, you get a bike or get your hair cut. When you are about to become an adult, you try working at different places and then you get placed in the job you work best with. You don’t get to pick who you marry or how many kids you have. You only get a girl and a boy. If you don’t fit in you go to the other country - like when you turn 60, or if you cry too much when you’re a baby. Anyway, I think you get my point but the Giver’s job is to hold all the bad things like hate or anger and the good things like color or singing. What will happen when the new Giver has a different idea than to do what he’s told?

Read this book it gives you a great perspective on life.
