The Prime Material Plane
J’lunrah is the Prime Material Plane, also called the Physical Realm, or Realm of the Living. It is the conjunction point for all the inner planes: Fire, Water, Earth, Air and Shadow. It is enshrouded in spiritual matter (also called the ethereal wall or ethereal plane) that provides a protective barrier between the material plane and the Realms of the Dead (or the outer planes). It is said by scholars that the plane of shadow also stretches through the ethereal wall and into the outer planes, but those claims are largely unsubstantiated. The Prime Material plane is the only finite plane of existence (all others are infinite, going on forever and thus impossible to map), resting within a crystal sphere that floats in the void of the Astral plane.
