Camp will be instructed by the Academy's staff as well as it's Elite summer organization, the Huntington Patriots! The Patriots have a new 13 and 14 year old travel team forming for 2009 and this camp is a great way for our coaches to recruit players!

Description:

The main goal of the "Transition Baseball Camp" is to teach young ball players ages 12 to 13 the proper tools to be successful on the larger baseball field. Here students will learn the fundamentals of base running, pitching, and defensive mechanices to to ahceive their goals at the next level. Along with these skills, we will also time each participant in the running of the 60 yard dash and home to first sprint. These times will be crucial in their experience at the next level. With the skills that will be taught, each student will be given a skills packet with information regarding the next level of play along with drills and workouts to ensure they will be ready for the competition.

    Pitching:
             Pitchers fielding practice, holding base runners, throwing from the                 stretch, proper deliveries, backing up throws.

     Base Running:
             Proper Lead offs, secondary leads, reading pitchers/steals, sliding,                  dirt ball reads.

     Defensive:
             Cut offs/foot work, run downs, skills drills, 1st and 3rd coverage,
              Positioning.
