Ceilidh was one of 4 bitches and 6 males whelped in the tremendously successful Ubersein C litter. Based on her excellent construction and movement, she was our pick of the bitches and her show career certainly confirmed the choice. One of Ceilidh's first major shows saw her take out Minor Puppy in Show from a large dog and bitch entry. Litter sister The Caper Caper ran second, and brothers The Crieff Chief and The Cayton Catch went 1 & 2 in the dog class. As a youngster, Ceilidh was actively shown at All Breeds shows, taking out many age in group and show awards. Coming up to 12 months of age, she began taking out large challenges. Just into the Junior class, she went challenge and Best of Breed at the 1995 Melbourne Royal Show. Brother The Crieff Chief was dog challenge and Runner Up Best Of Breed from a large entry. Ceilidh earned her Championship title on 21 September 1995, aged 14 months old to the day and still remains the youngest Rottweiler bitch titled in Victoria since 1981. In 1996, a change in personal circumstances motivated Ceilidh spending some time in NZ with friend and Rottweiler enthusiast Michelle Fahey. During her 12 month stay in New Zealand, Ceilidh was shown on 32 occasions for 23 challenges and 8 reserves. She also took out bitch challenge and Runner Up In Show at the South Island Rottweiler Clubs Specialty Show. Late in 1997, Ceilidh returned to us and went to stay for a short while with friend Leasa Robinson, whilst we raised our "E" litter. Ceilidh and Leasa clicked, and by the time Ceilidh should have returned, we didn't have the heart to split the team up, so Ceilidh remains Leasa's friend and companion. A bitch with a brilliant character and excellent judgement, we certainly missed having her around. Also we were sorry that Ceilidh only produced one litter. Given the outstanding progeny from her litter sister Ch. Ubersein Coy O Corrie, we felt Ceilidh was an equally promising brood bitch, however, circumstances prevented that being born out. Her show career, whilst quite exceptional, was also rather short, only being shown twice following her return from New Zealand. She was shown at a total of six Specialties and was never unplaced, sometimes in class sizes of up to 30. We are blessed to have our own little piece of Ceilidh through her grand-daughter Multi V1 Ch. Oscelly Strumpets Lass (Trumps) Ceilidh, my special girl, you will always have your place in my heart. |
