Things that make me feel lucky

Like I said at the start of the happy page, I started feeling like there was nothing positive out there.  As with any of you or any of the people you know, when trying to heal from Childhood sexual abuse or sexual assault, you will encounter extreme highs and lows.  Here I hope to make a list of not only things that make me as an individual feel lucky or happy, but also things that you or people you know can relate to.  I welcome suggestions or comments or anything you would like to send me.  Please feel free to e-mail me.

Resources

I am lucky to be alive. With some of the violence and the severe downs that have caused me to want to end it all, I have survived.  It takes enormous strength to have survived the actual events I (and you) encountered much less try to heal from them and be happy.

I am lucky that I have friends who care about me.  I have friends who are willing to annoy me and that wish me happiness.  Sometimes I abuse my friends, but they keep coming around and for that I am blessed.

My Story

I am lucky that I can enjoy music.  I can sing or dance even if I lack rhythm or if it is something silly.  I hear songs that evoke powerful emotions both happy and sad.  I am lucky that I can hear these and experience the depth music can provide.

I am lucky that I have been able to travel all over the world to some interesting places and that I will be able to do more so in the future.  I am lucky that I remembered to update my passport.

I am lucky that I have found a therapist that helps me work through the things I need to work through at a speed I am comfortable with and who I feel comfortable with and trust (as much as I can trust).
