Here I would like to introduce some resources that have helped me with a little commentary. I am still in the infancy stages (pun intended) of dealing with my abuse so any resources that you think I should add would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to e-mail me with any suggestions you might have. |

This is a book called "The Courage to Heal..." There has been debate about whether this book is responsible for false memory retrieval or not. For me, this was not a problem because I had never forgotten what had happened to me, just ignored it. If this is a concern to you, I would suggest writing down what you remember before reading it. Trust yourself and listen to what your body and brain are telling you. People (or you) have been telling you that you were lying enough. This book also has helpful sections for friends and family members of survivors. The books title says that it is for female survivors, but like a quote I can't seem to remember the origin of, "men, just change the pronouns, women have been doing it for decades." This book was helpful in that it helped me to understand what I was feeling and I could say "Yes! That's it!" |

This is the workbook companion to "The Courage to Heal..." This was for me more helpful than the book itself was. There are a lot of writing exercises and questions to help you focus your thoughts and feelings. For me this was especially helpful because of the unspoken rule that you never wrote anything down you didn't want the world to know and anything about you is bad. The book addresses other ways abuse has impacted our abilities to write about them which furthers its impact. This may not work for you but was immensely helpful for me. It is worth a try if you are having difficulty focusing or working things out. This is a long and arduous journey; take all the help you can get. This is also a bit fun (as fun as it can be considering the subject matter) sort of like fill in the blank quizzes. |

This is a link to a page called "The Wounded Healer." It has good resources for crisis times, finding a therapist, and some chat or contact sites. |

This leads to a growing list of other survivors' pages and other peoples stories. Some of these pages have great resource lists and all of them have good links and stories. |
