Transmission disruption
cuts electricity in Java, Bali
The Jakarta Post
Tue, 03/17/2009 6:25 PM
A transmission disruption caused the Suralaya coal-fired power plant (PLTU) of West Java to operate under capacity, which caused blackouts in some areas of Java and Bali on Tuesday, the state-owned PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) electricity firm said Tuesday.
PLN Java-Bali area director Murtaqi Syamsuddin said the disruption had caused the power plant to output only 225 Megawatts, far less than its capacity of 3,400 Megawatts.
“As a result, we have cut and decreased our electricity supply to many residential areas in Central Jakarta and Depok in West Java from 11:42 [Tuesday],” Murtaqi told Antara state news wire.
The company would soon switch to replace the load on the Suralaya power plant using power from other plants, to avoid extended power shortages, he said.
“We hope this will not take long, so residents can have their electricity restored soon,” Murtaqi said. (ewd)

The reason for moving to this new homepage is because like mentioned in my letter
Approaching the Storage Limit,
whereas Geocities only provides 15 MB and at the moment I wrote that letter on 27 November 2008 the
content has reached 13.6 MB.
Yet a few days later I could still find some files that could be deleted or moved, like the files of my
three photos of elementary school class-mates
which was more than 200 KB each, therefore I could still continue the Closing the Window of Disasters for more than three months.
Now the remaining space is around 200 KB, and it should be better left empty, so I need to move to this new site of “Up 4 Better Days”.
Tuesday 17 March 2009, at Orange Internet Shop in the morning I worked the preparation
of this new homepage, including the writing of "Moving"
letter, my last letter in the "Closing the Window of Disasters". As
usual when uploading to my homepage, I preferred to locate it on
temporary location because it would then distributed into the letters folder and the indexes folder. That day I only uploaded one letter, the bgt380.
Just when I had uploaded it to the usual
"http://www.oocities.org/closing_wd_dst/ltr/", all of
a sudden the electric power turned off. At first I thought it was only in the Internet shop, a problem of short-circuit or something, but when
I was on the way back home and stopped by to another Internet Shop, it was also having the electric problem.
I continued pedaling the bicycle to get back home, and it
appeared that the electric power at home was also shut down.
Around two hours later when it was on again, I found the news on TV about
the explosion at PLTU Suralaya, the steam turbine power plant located at Cilegon, in West
part of Java Island. Six of the seven transmission
towers there were damaged, causing many parts of Jakarta, Banten, West Java and Central Java lost electric power for more than
two hours in that afternoon of a working day.

Besides the black-out caused by explosion at Suralaya Power Plant,
a few hours later something else happened after I uploaded my
Moving letter.
A young woman was found dead on Tuesday night 17 March 2009 at the emergency stairs between sixth and
seventh floor of Pacific Place shopping Mall.
The body was found with cut wounds on her face and slashed throat.
The next day she was identified as Maria Fransisca Bernadet Elen, age 21, working as marketing administration
at PT Abbott Indonesia. She was there for a job interview.
It immediately reminded me with
Crane Tower Tumbling Down After My Visit to Mr. Rinaldi,
about a crane tower fell down and hit a car and a motorcycle,
causing one person died, on 24 May 2007 during the development of Pacific Place. It was just one day after
I visited the office of Mr. Rinaldi Firmansyah on 23 May 2007. Pacific Place location is close to the Jakarta Stock Exchange, now BEI, or in Indonesian
it is also known as Bursa Saham, headed by Mr. Erry Firmansyah the older brother of Mr. Rinaldi Firmansyah.
The word "saham" could also be
interpreted as connected with my name A.M. Firmansyah, whereas "Sah A.M." is like
having the meaning of "King A.M." or "A.M. the President", since the word "sah"
has the meaning of "king".
Most of all I certainly hope that it all has nothing to do with me.
Besides, in the
opening of this new
site I have clearly mentioned that this "Up 4 Better Days" is not about my intention to
move up in politics, because I clearly realize the limitations in me to become a good politician.
Instead, this is about my consent to move up to the eternal life in the heaven above after realizing
that my existence in this world has the tendency to become the bait that triggers disasters.
