Hello again everyone and now fot the second installment of The Guns of Trigun.  This time I'm going to tell you about Wolfwood's .45 caliber Grader Single Hand 2043 Autopistol.  Wolfwood's gun is based on the .45 Colt Commander or Combat Commander, which is a modified version of the Colt "Government" 1911 A1 Handgun.  I'm not able to specify whether it is a Colt Commander or a Combat Commander due to the fact there is no actual version of this gun.  The Commander is a lightweight pistol made from Coltalloy, an aluminum alloy while the Combat Commander is a heavier steel construction.  Most likely it's based on the Combat Commander's steel construction due to the lack of strength aluminum has.  The Grader's barrel legnth is 5" and has a capacity of 7 rounds, and with one in the chamber it brings the total to 8.  Also the Grader sports the same safeties and latches found on other autopistols, like the slide safety, grip safety, slide lock, and magazine ejector.

The most significant modification and advantage that Wolfwood's Grade Single Hand 2043 has over the Colt is the fact that it is designed for single hand operation.  Meaning that the slide of the pistol is actually attached to the front of the trigger guard allowing you the option of pulling back the slide, loading the weapon, and cocking the trigger with your trigger finger.  You'll notice thet the trigger guard is not your average front and back loop.  Therefore freeing your other hand to do the same with yet another pistol.

Other modification are purely aesthetic like the fact that the trigger design (with the three holes) is taken from the Colt Defender.  The hammer design is actually that of the older Colt Government model, meaning that it is not the loop-backed type hammer seen on the Colt Commander.  The slide has four notches on the side of the back of the slide unlike the Colt's mutiple notches for grabbing the slide and pulling it back in two handed operation fashion.  The front of the frame under the slide is cut about 1/2" to 3/4" back further than the Colt Combat Commander.  The slide safety is round tipped lever instead of the traditional style, and finally the addition of portholes in the slide over the barrel near the front, three on both sides.

Now on the kit. Dai Nippon Giken is the only manufacturer of a replica of this gun.  Cast as a solid piece of resin with no working parts.  Each piece is individually numbered and cast in black resin, as are all of Dai Nippon Giken's kits (accept no substitutes.)  The price on this piece is 5000 yen, approximately $45.  There are no known companies or websites that sell recast of this kit. Again I say to you, good luck on your search.
