The 01' Marching Indians

Under the Direction of Brian Woods and Jill Stienkamp

The MCS Marching Indians have started up in already.Camp is over! We will be marching three field shows,U of I Band Day, and three parades,The MCS Homecoming,IC,and Beardstown.

I will get everyone from Griggsville listed as soon as I have a list!

The 01'-02' Symphonic Band

This will be our High School band for the 01'-02' school year .We will rehearse five days a week during 8th hour and our first performance is Fall Concert 01'. This isn't the official seating I won't know that for quite sometime!

Flutes:Mandi Womble,Lindsey VanHyning,Mandy Large,and Krista Surratt.

Clarinets:Melissa Shelton and Lori Lomelino.

Saxophones:Hilary Pool(Alto I),Josh Schmitz(Alto II),Samantha Buhlig(Tenor),Katie Battefeld(Tenor),and Brandon McDannald(Bari).

Trumpets:Kala Freesen,David Klienschimdt,Brandy Hinners,and Andrew Walker.

French HornLinsay Staake.

Baritone:Tyler Johnson.

Tuba:Corey Bowman.

Percussion:Abby Sullivan,Patrick Test,Dallas Caron,and Donnie Kirkham.

The Symphonic will play at the Fall Concert,Christmas Concert,Winter Concert,and the Spring Concert. Even I can't predict how this band will sound. The loss of our seniors could hit hard,but we will just have to wait and see.

The 01'-02' MCS Jazz Band

The Jazz Band will rehearse whenever we can. Mostly nights and mostly Wednesdays. It's totally extracurricular and a lot of fun! Director:Brian Woods

Saxes:Hilary Pool(Sophomore-Lead Alto),Katie Battefeld(Alto II),Samantha Buhlig(Junior-Lead Tenor), Michael Sullivan(8th-Second Tenor), and Brandon McDannald(Senior-Bari)

Trombones:Corey Bowman(Senior-Lead) and Tyler Freesen(8th-2nd).

Trumpets:Kala Freesen(Senior-Lead), Michael Womble(8th-2nd),and Paula Kleinschmidt(8th-3rd).

Rythym Section:Patrick Test(Freshman-Set),Bass and piano will be Woods until we find someone(Maybe Mandi Womble...).

This jazz band will really look different.We lost last year three players last year(Miranda,Mari,and Jeff).With Senior Lead players Kala Freesen and Corey Bowman heading the trumpets and trombones, the brass will look exactly the same.The band is young and anything could happen. Hilary Pool is stepping out of the spot she has held for three years to take on the responsibilty of leading the saxes. Patrick Test will be sitting down behind a set that Jeff Browning is known for rocking. It will be tough but I think we will be fine. We hope to play all four concerts and a couple of Jazz festivals.

The 01'-02' Concert Band

This is the Jr. High Band. They will rehearse three days a week seventh hour. Their next concert is Christmas Concert 01'.This isn't true seating,but I'll get it up when I know.

Clarinets:Brittany Luckett,Kyla Buhlig, and Kayla Kensinger.

Alto Saxophones:Joseph Heeman,Adam Mortimer,and Cody Battefeld.

Tenor Saxophones:Michael Sullivan.

Bari Saxophone:Fawn Hilton.

Trumpets:Michael Womble,Kayla Smith,Paula Kleinschimdt,Cody Hamman,Jenni Butterfield,Michael Seckman,Stevie Chute,and Megan Werries.

Trombone:Tyler Freesen.

Tuba:Wes Burton.

Percussion:Adam Gerecke,Brittany Mortimer,Michael Gadberry,Cody Ritter,Trevin Hardwick,and Alex Crow.

The Concert Band will be making their debut at the Christmas Concert. They lost six players to the Symphonic Band this year and we are glad to have them.This years 8th grade class should be very strong though.Good luck!

Most of the 01' Marching Band will make up the powerhouse that was the 01'-02' MCS Pep Band. Every home Basketball game we will fill the gym with sound.
