Activities to encourage team building (it's never too early to start) - Design or purchase a large piece puzzle.  Make sure there are enough pieces for each member of the troop.  Give each girl one piece and instruct the participants to find the person with the interlocking piece.  Once they find their match, those two girls can find the third person and proceed around the room until the whole puzzle is complete.
Thinking about a Troop Sleep Over?  Troop sleep overs provide great opportunities for girls to have fun and build troop unity.  They also create lifelong memories and there's plenty to do with energetic Girl Scouts all night long!  Remember to check Safety Wise and follow the necessary guidelines and to go through the Sleepover Checklist from Council.  There is also paperwork that must be completed, so allow yourself enough time to get it completed prior to the overnight.  Questions?  Contact your Consultant.
** Plan enough activities to keep the girls occupied, but don't pack every minute.  Allow for some rest time during the night.
** Make sure the girls are involved in the planning process, which can be as educational and enjoyable as the sleep over itself.
** Mix educational activities with play time.  Games, songs and finger plays are loads of fun.
** Popular sleep over sites such as museums, science centers and camps fill up early.  Get applications in as soon as the notices appear or when you hear about them through the grapevine.
** Read site instructions carefully, because sites often have specific rules about luggage, food, number of adults permitted, etc.
** Check your Girl Scout handbooks to take advantage of award requirements.  Many sleep over activities can fulfill parts of, or entire, award requirements.
** Take as many adults as the program allows.  More adults give the girls flexibility to break into small groups for varied activities.  Check Safety-Wise for proper girl/adult ratios.
** Consider using Girl Scout bandanas or t-shirts to help keep track of your group.  The troop can even make their own prior to the sleep over.
** Think ahead and remember to plan for breakfast if it's not provided.
