We have a very strong, vibrant Girl Scout presence here in the Village Trails Service Unit - more than 500 Girl Scouts are registered in Westmont and Clarendon Hills, and parts of Hinsdale, Willowbrook and Darien. We have been successful because of wonderful family and community participation.
Providing a good Girl Scout program to our Village Trails' girls, as well as the rest of the girls served by Girl Scouts - Prairie Winds Council, depends on may things. Volunteers dedicate countless hours to ensure that girls receive quality programs. Businesses and other organizations recognize the importance of Girl Scouts and supply meeting places, material supplies and copying. In addition to all this support, over $1.5 million is spent every year to provide the Girl Scout program to the 19,775 girls registered in our council. This is funded by product sales, grants, donations and Family Partners.
Our annual Family Partners fundraising campaign is a way that you can help support the incredible opportunities that are available to the girls in DuPage County. Contributions made to our local Girl Scout council directly benefit our girls. Funds are used to train volunteers, subsidize the cost of programs and summer camps, provide financial assistance and maintin our beloved Camp Greene Wood.
If your Girl Scout is registering this fall, would you consider writing your check for an amount above the $10.00 national dues? By making your check out for $15.00, you'd be including a $5.00 tax deductible donation that will benefit our girls locally. A $25.00 check at registration would include a $15.00 donation, or a $60.00 check would include a generous $50.00 donation; large amounts are also gratefully accepted. Please note: the national dues of $10.00 and your Family Partners donations may be paid together with a check, cash, or charged to a credit card. Many employers have matching contribution programs; contact your Human Resources department to see if yours does. |
