Something new is being added to our inspiration workshops.  Those who attended the fall workshop in Newbury will be given a weight slip to bring in when they attend the spring inspiration workshop, date and location to be announced at a later date.  The top ten losers between workshops will be given a peach rose to be given to another member to inspire them to lose by the next workshop.  The rose can be presented to someone at the workshop or can be taken back to the chapter to be presented.  The top ten losers will be given a special pin (that is only available as a top 10 loser award) which they will get to keep. Those who attend the spring workshop will be eligible to receive the award at the 2009 fall workshop.   Only those who attend the workshops are eligible to receive this award.
Something New:
The Peach Rose Ceremony
                   2008 Chapter Contest
Don't forget the year-long chapter contest.  You have been earning points for attendance at workshops, SRD,and Fall Rally, and for participation in the chapter walk.  You will  receive points for each person who ends the year with a loss of 10 pounds or more, and if your chapter has a net loss for the year.  You can also earn points for holding an open house.  There is still time left in the year to work on those losses or to hold an open house.  The chapter who earns the most points will receive an award.
        More New Vermont TOPS Chapters
We are very happy to have two more new chapters added to our Vermont TOPS family.  TOPS #VT145, Jeffersonville held its first meeting on October 9th, with Lynda Sweet as the leader. Her address is 506 River Rd., Cambridge, VT 05444 and her e-mail is lrsweet@verizon.net.  TOPS #VT146, Newport Center was started on September 27th.  Their leader is Polly Duquette, who can be reached at 802-334-2227 or 717 Poginy Hill Rd., Newport, VT 05857.
                   Retreat Scholarship
Would you like to attend a TOPS retreat and save $250 on the cost?  A TOPS Retreat is a great way to meet TOPS members from other states and get inspired together.  Anyone who has attended a retreat in the past has said they enjoyed it and would go again.  If you would like a chance to earn a $250 scholarship toward the cost of a retreat, all you have to do is write up something telling why you think you need or deserve a retreat and send it to Judy Jones by March 1, 2009.  You may also send your letter telling why you think someone else deserves a retreat.  Your field staff will choose the best entry and that person will receive a certificate good for $250 toward the cost of a retreat.  The certificate will be awarded at SRD 2009 and will need to be used within one year.  Get those entries in and someone will be attending a retreat at a greatly reduced cost.
