Actions by Alumnae, Students, and Parents
Alumnae Association Meeting of 10/16/04 passes a unanimous resolution: "We ask the alumnae members of the Board of Trustees present here today to call an emergency meeting of the Board of Trustees to set a moratorium on the transition to coeducation, in order to mitigate the crisis on campus and obtain input from all stake holders: parents, students, alumnae, staff, and faculty."
Students protest the decision:
- 217 students, more than two thirds of the 302 students residing on campus this fall, signed the protest register at Macmillan Hall. (The administration's 393 figure includes part-time, non-residential, and study abroad students, and possibly those on leave.)
- W.I.L.L. Committee, representing the 43 older students -- many non-resident -- enrolled this semester, issued a powerful statement commending the protest and criticizing the trustees / administration.
- Collegiate Council, the leadership of the student government, issued a statement strongly critical of the Board's decision-making process, saying it has "placed this institution in a precarious and dangerous position."
- No Confidence in President Ryerson voted by a margin of 2-to-1 by over half of the resident student body.
- Indictment of the Ryerson Presidency: student findings are disturbing.
- Marketing Plan submitted by students to the Board to save Wells for Women.
Parents complaint to the Board of Trustees.
