EDUCATION: University of the West Indies - Bachelor of Law Hugh Wooding School of Law (LLB). Admitted to the Trinidad & Tobago Bar. CAREER: Singer, signed with Warner Brothers working on a CD. Grammy nominated Mark Batson(India.Arie,Joe)will produce it. She describes her sound as "Mellow, R&B mixed in with a touch of Caribbean Flavour" CHARITY WORK: Founder of the Hibiscus Foundation that provides medicine and treatment for children who are disadvantaged or living with HIV/AIDS. TITLES & AWARDS: Miss Universe 1998, UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador, Trinidad & Tobago Chaconia Gold Medal for Promotion of Trinidad & Tobago, Red Cross Ambassador for Youth, Spokesperson - UN Face to Face Campaign, The Caribbean Heritage Alliances Citation, Trinidad Express Individual of the year etc… MAGAZINES: Essence, Harper's Bazaar, National Geographic, Ebony, Vibe, People, BWIA's Caribbean Beat, Ibis, Panache, Black Diaspora, Unfold, Oceana, Everybody's etc… ADVERTISEMENTS: Clairol, Burger King, Motorola, Air Jamaica, BWIA, local Insurance, Banking, Beverage ads and countless other International ads. FASHION SHOWS: All top Caribbean Designers and International Designers. TALK SHOW / TV APPEARANCES: Politically Incorrect, CNN's Q and A, Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, Magic Johnson Show, The Vibe -host Sinbad, E! Documentaries, Home and Family, BET, Entertainment Tonight, and many other news programs around the world. JUST LIKE: Halle Berry who entered Miss USA which allowed her to compete in Miss World. At Miss World, Berry lost to another Trinidad and Tobago native Miss World 1986, Giselle Laronde. However Halle branched into the field of entertainment as is Wendy. Wendy can also be likened unto the first black Miss Universe, Janelle Penny Commisiong, yet another Trinidad and Tobago Native. |
