After Wendy won Miss Universe, her homecoming agenda, included spending time with the Children she loved dearly. On the visit to the children, Fitzwilliam broke down in tears for the ones she cared dearly about. Her love fuelled her desire to do something valuable for children living with HIV/AIDS, hence she established the HIBISCUS FOUNDATIONwhich provides assistance (medication etc.) for not only HIV/AIDS+ children but, disadvantaged children throughout the Caribbean. Fitzwilliam has played a key role in changing the way the T&T society views HIV/AIDS affected individuals.

I beg of you, to do something to curb this deadly disease AIDS. It can start with you, via abstinence, by which you can save the lives you deem important- your life and the lives of those whom you love and value. AIDS does not discriminate, age, sex or beauty, it is real. Click on the 3 links below:

FOUNDATION
Long before Wendy Fitzwilliam was deemed the queen of hearts, by her fellow Trinbagonians, she was strumming the hearts and souls of a special group of children. These children like any other in the world, laugh, play, cry, and yearn for love and kindness. These children however, have a greater battle to fight than the average child. This is so simply because the children I speak of were born with and are living with HIV/AIDS.

Her AIDS activism began earlier when she was a law student in her native Trinidad and Tobago. During breaks from classes she would spend time at a children's home for orphans with AIDS located right near the law school where she was studying. The orphanage she visited, is still the only children's home for orphans with HIV/AIDS in the country.
