1. Join us or a group local to you. Click here to see who we are and what we do or see the Local group contacts page. Don`t be scared to get involved, we welcome support from all newcomers. Getting involved doesn`t have to mean coming on demos, as you`ll see from the rest of this list. Even if you are busy with other commitments, just an hour or 2 a month of your time could make a significant difference to the animals. Subscribe to receive regular email alerts. Contact us

2. Go vegetarian - stop eating meat. This is the first step that many people take on the path towards a compassionate lifestyle. In the UK, 2,000 people go veggie every week. At that rate, the entire population will be veggie by the year 2047! Why not try giving up meat for a week and see how you get on!
See the Viva! website for all the help and info you need. Going veggie is not only good news for animals but great for the environment and your health too. There are now so many farmed animals in the world - 45 billion killed last year - that they`ve become an environmental disaster. They destroy top soil, help turn land to desert, pollute drinking water and contribute to global warming, acid rain, forest destruction and ozone depletion. Vegetarians get fewer heart attacks, strokes, cancers and gallstones and less high blood pressure and diabetes. A vegetarian diet can reverse heart disease.

3. Boycott companies that test their products on animals. Procter and Gamble, Unilever, Smithkline Beacham & Colgate Palmolive all kill animals.
Boycott list     Using our power as consumers we can encourage them to adopt a more ethical policy. Only buy products which clearly state `not tested on animals.` The Co-op and Tesco have good non-animal testing policies for their own-brand products. Click here for a list of non-animal testing companies and products

4. Go vegan - Cut out all animal products from your diet. This is not as difficult as it may sound, there`s a huge and growing range of delicious food widely available. Save animals, become healthier and help stop environmental destruction all in one go. Most vegans also avoid wearing leather, fur etc and don`t use any animal tested products. See the
Viva! website for more info.

5. Join the various National campaigning groups.
Animal Aid, VIVA, Uncaged and CAPS are national groups that run very successful campaigns across the country. You can join in most campaigns using email. Many groups have an `email action alert` list that will send you up to date info when your help is needed. See our Links page for many more groups.

6. Spread the word - Hand out leaflets to family and friends. Put up posters on your works notice board and in shop windows. There`s no doubt that many more people would get involved if they knew how animals are abused and how they could help stop it. Contact the groups on the
Links page who will be happy to send you the leaflets etc you require.

7. If you hear some information about local cruelty which we should know about, please let us know. For example, you may see real fur on sale in a shop or hear that an animal circus is coming to the area. And if you have any other news which others should be aware of, we can display it on this website. Please
contact us

8. Write letters to your MP, the council, newspapers, companies etc. Letter writing may seem boring or a waste of time to some people but we have actually achieved many victories simply by voicing our concerns in this way.

9. Don`t support cruelty - Stay away from animal circuses, safari parks, zoos etc. These places will close when people stop paying to see animals incarcerated. Only buy your pet food etc from shops that don`t sell animals. Don`t buy from shops that sell fur clothes or toys made from fur. Don`t support charities or charity shops that fund animal testing. Boycott these
shops

10. Donate or raise money to help fund our campaigning. Sadly, the leaflets, newsletters etc that we distribute all cost money. Hold a car boot sale, a sponsored event or organise a work/pub collection. If you would like to donate please make cheques payable to `West Midlands Animal Action` and send to PO Box 10202, Redditch, Worcs. B98 8YT
