Please Help Here are a few more bits of information before you get to the links: In 1983 not one pharmaceutical company was involved or cared about research programs to find new drugs or cures derived from plants. They considered it "hocus-pocus" belonging to medicine men and mythical shamans. Today, however, there are over 100 of these companies involved in this research. Since pharmaceutical companies are normally about big bucks and the bottom line, their involvement in this area of medicine tells me there is definitely something to it - not that I didn't believe in medicinal purposes of plants before this. Merck - a huge pharmaceutical company - is one of the giants involved now. And, of course, the National Cancer Institute is involved in this research also. Right now there are over 121 prescription drugs sold world-wide are from plant derivitives. But these clearings must not become too big - as with those made by loggers and ranchers - because above a certain critical size the forest WILL NOT regenerate. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Awards|Help Stop Abuse|Book of Shadows| Card Readings|CatTails|Den of Dragons| Fun n Games|Graphics|Hotbar Skinz| Ladies of the Lake| Poetry| Rainforest| Daily Sayings|The Site Wars|Updates| Webrings|Wicca/WitchCraft|Solstice Moon| Wolves|Email ThunderWolf ![]() |
