NAME ___________________________ APES PROJECT You will be conducting a series of “mini projects” this semester for a test grade. You must complete each of the required activities and one elective activity. Specific instructions for each project may be found on the website (www.oocities.org/wpr24). Each activity is worth one hundred points and the average of the four activities will constitute your grade on the project. REQUIRED ACTIVITIES: (Topics for each of these must be approved by Mrs. Roberts!) 1. Environmental Case Study – You should choose an environmental issue that interests you to complete your case study. It may be a global issue or a local issue. Due date: ___________ 2. Book Review – You may choose a fiction or non-fiction book that addresses environmental issues. Due date: ___________________ 3. Environmental Figure – Choose someone who is involved in environmental issues (either negatively or positively) and complete the Fan Club report. Due date: ______________ ELECTIVE ACTIVITIES – CHOOSE ONE! Due date: ______________________ 1. Create a video of a Public Service Announcement regarding a specific environmental issue. 2. Create a scrapbook documenting resource change in the past century. 3. Create a scrapbook that documents songs, folklore, literary passages, and art works that reflect US land-use values and ethics as they have evolved from the frontier era to the present. Be sure to include Native American works. 4. Write a paper that depicts 3 different cultural views towards nature and the environment. 5. Write a children’s book depicting an environmental issue. 6. Create a Sustainable Living Plan for Sequoyah High School. 7. Create a travel brochure for an ecotourism activity in a biome of your choice. Include a set of 10 “eco-laws” that the tourist must obey when visiting your area. 8. Create a “Humans in the Biosphere” pamphlet for fifth-graders’ parents. 9. Read The Education of Little Tree and complete ONE of the follow-up activities. 10. Read Ishmael and complete the follow-up activity. |
