My Expierence

My Expierence

I attended the 'Fright Furnace' held every October at the Sloss Furnace. I was never skeptical of anything there. Like I said previously, I've never been a skeptic of anything paranormal. When first arriving at Sloss, you are automatically hit with a wave of thick air. Everything begins to feel uneasy. The air you breath has something stale lingering on it. As the sun goes down, the more ominous is appears.

The 'Fright Furnace' is much like a haunted house. Actors dress up and use props and good effects to startle you in the dark. Usually I'm not scared by the banging and claning of actors and loud spontanous noises. Though the actors did a good job at setting the mood and frightening a lot of the patorns. However, I can honestly say neither the noises nor actors scared me as much as when I entered into what I am almost certian to believe as the Blowing Engine Room. The Blowing Engine room is where almost all of the men worked thier long, harsh shifts at the Sloss Furnace. Before I entered the room, my eyes began to feel hot and itchy, as well as my nose and sinuses. Almost like I was standing too close to a fire. Passing through 'Chainsaw Alley' (a walkway featuring actors revving up chainsaws against the patrons a little too closely for comfort), I was hit with the firey feeling and a genuine emotion of fear and sadness. I began to cry, and for the life of me I can't honestly say why other than I just didn't want to go where I was being led. Through the Blowing Building, we made our way down to the 'Tunnel'. Imagine an alomst pitch black, moist tunnel where many sightings have been seen. Through out the building and the tunnel I cried. My 6th sense was telling me that this was not a place to be taken lightely. Honestly, I didn't feel like myself again until I was home, far from Sloss. And looking back on it now, it all seems like a blur. Overall I was rubbed the wrong way by something. Something or someone didn't want people there.

I've read several accounts of others encounters at Sloss, but they don't really similar to my own. If given the oppurtunity to return to Sloss I may accept. The Sloss Furnace is a must see for anyone that believes in ghosts or any form of paranormal activity. Take it from me.
