Don't Think Twice (1999) Director: Sarah Polley Writer: Sarah Polley Cast: Jennifer Podemski, Chick Reid, William Greenblatt Character: Jake Billed: 1st Plot: Jake is forced to make a split second decision, choosing between his wife, on the phone nagging him about his son's refusal to go to school, and his mistress who's lying in a heap at the bottom of the stairs... Review: A seemingly preposterous setup succeeds through the potential seriousness of the situation, and the real moral dilemma Jake faces. For such a short film, the relationships at its core are quickly and believably established. All four actors play it with commendable earnestness, although, for Tom, looking stunned whilst wandering about in your boxer shorts must be a trying task. Mainly worth a look for its ability to convey in less than ten minutes more than what most films manage in 90. Trivia: Tom & Chick's first movie together, even if they're never onscreen at the same time and we don't see Chick's face. Director Sarah Polley starred with Tom in The Sweet Hereafter and Last Night. Tom Quote: "I love you, Casey... I really do." |
