EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE PLAN (diving in Malaysia) (for decompression illness requiring transfer to a recompression chamber) - Administer first aid treatment (please see information on Decompression Illness for details) - Contact the nearest local clinic / hospital and request for ambulance to standby - Immediately transfer the diver to mainland. In case of air evacuation, it should be at sea level pressure or as low as possible (not more than 1000ft) in an unpressurised aircraft - Contact Malaysian Diving Emergency Hotline +605-930-4114 and inform officer on duty on the diver's profile and condition. Obtain advice for transfer to recompresssion chamber - If necessary, transfer the diver to the nearest local hospital to be stabilised and to obtain immediate treatment - Upon stabilisation, transfer the patient to the nearest recompression chamber (either Kuantan Naval Base or Armed Forces Hospital, Lumut) - Inform respective authorities and the diver's immediate family about the incident. - Remember to collect the diver's equipments for further examination and keep record of details of the incident for hospital, insurance and legal follow up. |
