Perhentian Island needs no introduction. By now it has fetched a reputation to its name as one of the best dive destination on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, south to the Gulf of Thailand.
Belonging to the state of Terengganu, Perhentian Island is situated to the north east of Peninsula Malaysia 21 km off the coast of Kuala Besut. However, it is somehow largely associated with its neighbouring state of Kelantan evidenced by the local Kelantanese dialect and the favourate food 'nasi dagang'.
It consists of Perhentian Besar (big island) and Perhentian Kecil (small island). It is a gazetted marine park and as such we are assured a protected underwater heaven.
Perhentian Island is accessible from February to late October with the best diving during April to September. |
