| John Yearout was born 26-Oct-1795, in Augusta County, Virginia. He was the oldest of the nine children I find listed for the family of Abraham and Susannah Burkett Yearout. The family migrated to Knox County, Tennessee, and this is the location which my own direct line of Yearout's dwell today. John married Martha aka Patsy, 12-Oct-1816. Martha was born 09-May-1799. Even though I have never read anything relating to them as people, The census records point them out as extremely good people. In 1860, they were raising their 12 year old grand daughter, Edney. John was 65, Martha 61. Edney was the daughter of their own daughter, Harriett Yearout, most likely illigitimate. Then once again, in 1870, we find a great grandson, Lemuel, age 5, living in their household. Lemuel was the son of Edney. At the ages of 75 and 71, John and Martha must have been truly caring people. John Yearout served in the War of 1812 as a private in Colonel Dougherty's regiment. Records show that he was injured due to exposure during the march from Ft. Strother to Ft. William, and that he received pension for his disabilities. Martha signed for widow's pension after his death. John died 09-May-1872 in Maryville, Blount County, Tennessee. Martha followed close at 09-Oct-1872. Children: 1.
