Yangmingshan is just north of Taipei and to get there, you go up a long, windy road. We were lucky in that more people were going down than going up. Generally, if you don't drive, there are busses-a-plenty just to take you up there. Funny thing, we walked around and around and around, and could never find one of these busses. So we took a taxi. This is the only picture I got, as I thought we would circle back from where we started, like you normally do in a park. But we got a little lost and then it started raining.
We tried to take one of the busses to get back down, but were unsuccessful. Although, we didn't wait
very long as we were getting nervous about getting stuck up there, with no phone. A taxi happened to be driving back down, we
stopped him, and went to Tony Roma's for dinner. Mmm mmm mmm.
Hualien, East Coast of Taiwan
Sunday we took one of those package tours to Hualien, which is on the east coast of Taiwan. We went to
Taroko Gorge and the East Coast National Park. We had to leave the hotel at 6:15am (AM!!!!) to catch a TransAsia plane to
Hualien, about a 40 minute flight. Then we got on an air-conditioned bus, and we were on our way!
On the bus, passing by the farms of papaya trees. Somewhere by here, we stopped and got some free
bananas. :) One of the perks of being a tour-bussee!
The entrance to Taroko National Park. The people wouldn't move out of the way.
Pictures from the Taroko Gorge. To the right is the Tunnel of Nine Turns.
