The Youth Peace Building Initiative YPBI launches in the months of October and November a peace building awareness campaign in the greater Khartoum area.

The peace building campaign targets the youth, women and elders in the communities in each of Jaborona (Omdurman) Mandela (Khartoum) and Tawidad and Hai Baraka in Khartoum North.

In each of the places the YPBI team will hold seminars on peace building, hold discussions and set out the way forward with the groups in the areas.

The campaign is one of the programmes YPBI uses in raising awareness on the importance of peacefull co-existence and harmony among the people; it uses the common theme of living with our differences.

In a separate development YPBI is also carrying out a national evaluation on her peace building activities throughout the country, with especial emphasis on the use of the peace building training manual, the YPBI resource handbook.

Teams from YPBI Khartoum have been visiting the Sudan Council of Churches regional offices.

The team had already visited Malakal and El Obeid, in which they held meetings with the youth in the SCC member churches and discussed the effectiveness of the Youth Manual as well as the youth activities in the regions.

At the end of the visits, YPBI Khartoum Forum will hold a mini-evaluation meeting to assess the whole peace building programme.
