Powers: At first she had the power to expose her victim's figure of authority, object of affection, greatest fear, stuff like that, through a limited form of telepathy and use the information to subdue them mentally, but after making repeated trips between planets, her power has evolved into shooting psychic arrows that either brain-fry or kill her opponent. She can also establish a mental rapport with most animals, including transmogrifying comrades like Rahne who can assume animal form. She also rides her winged horse Brightwind bareback, (which is a pretty neat trick as well!).

Danielle Moonstar was one of the Founding member and long time co-leader of the defunct New Mutants.. Anyway, she is a Cheyenne Indian who started seeing images as a child that had an eerie was of coming true, such as when she saw her parents get killed, and then her parents disappeared in real life. At age 10, Dani moved out into the wilderness to gain control of her powers without hurting anyone else. Her grandfather, Black Eagle, found her and took care of her out there. Eventually, he realized she needed more help than he could give her, so he handed her over to Xavier.

Dani was at first very upset at being handed into the custody of a white man, but made good friends with her teammates in time. She becomes co-leader of the New Mutants with Sam Guthrie, and proves a capable leader. A short way through the New Mutants series, Dani's parents (Oh WOW. Someones parents come back from the dead... Bet you never guessed that'll happen) come back, possessed by a spirit called the Demon Bear, which is soon destroyed (thus Dani's parents freed) by Magik, one of the New Mutants. She sticks with the New Mutants for a good long time, but eventually leaves them to live in Asgard. There she becomes one of the Valkyrior, making her a Valkyrie, one of the warrior maidens capable of seeing Death approach and challenging Death for the souls of fallen warriors .

She eventually returned form Asgard, but reappeared in the new MLF. In the middle of a big nasty fight between X-Force and the new MLF, Sunspot and Boomer (currently Meltdown) suspect her to be their old pal Dani. She brain-fries Cannonball and Boomer, and tangoes some more with X-Force, and then gets teleported away with the rest of the MLF and Sunspot. The next time we see her is in Child's Play, a crossover with X-Force, the New Warriors, and the Upstarts. She is targeted by the Upstarts because she was with the New Mutants. This time, she fights alongside X-Force (rather than trying to melt their brains. How nice of her). After the whole thing is over, she reveals herself to her old teammates to be the Dani (Dramatic GASPS!!) they knew and loved. The scary thing is, she seemed to enjoy shocking them like that.

The next time we see her is just after the fight with Feral, when she is revealed to be a spy for Cable. We see her in a big way in X-Force Annual 3, and she discusses her double life in the MLF. Towards the end of the annual, we see that Reignfire is really Sunspot (uh oh flash back..excuse me while I throw upÉ), and Dani is worried about whether she can ever get back the friend she knew (you mean after frying their brains and all... NaaaH of course you will).

The next time we see her is in X-Force #43. Just after X-Force has located Bobby, they come and find Dani, her horse killed, her friend gone insane, and thinking she's all alone. They assure her she's never been alone (well, okay, Sam assures her that, but the rest of the team doesn't argue.) and then they find out who Reignifre is (*hurls*). Then suddenly comes the AoA.

After that, the next time we see her is just recently, when she is revealed to be a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent spying on the MLF. Contact for Cable, mole inside the MLF, and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent all at the same time, ( clever, I think she's found her niche in life). Just after betraying the MLF, she and X-Force found themselves in deep doo-doo (hehehe I said doo-doo hehehe) with Operation: Zero Tolerance. But they broke out, and she was happy to be herself again.

She just joined the team, (and surprisingly enough), doesn't object to being led by Siryn. Lately, that dude Richie Algeria, who needs protection from the mob, hired the team to keep him safe, and Dani just knows she's going to regret looking after him, but gave in to his begging anyway (well this one wasn't so badÉguess she hasn't been around much so Marvel hasn't yet screwed up her character... but she's part of a team now...*sniff* poor Dani, I knew her well *sniff* ).

It would seem that Dani appeared in Excalibur 104, still with the MLF despite the fact the MLF was destroyed by Reignfire, and still calling herself Moonstar despite having her cover utterly blown right before the crystallization event that led into the Age of Apocalypse.
