Log Twenty-Two
At the beginning of the session, Jessica had just walloped Moradin, and was rather surprised when he broke. People were just hanging around, except for William, who was leading an army back to Amber, to help defend against Corwin.
Quotes from the Session
"I just hit him." Jessica.
"Well, he half somersaults, slides down the wall, and lands in a crumpled heap, bleeding from the nose and ears." GM.
"I walk away." Jessica.
"I sort of hover around him until I can get a guard's attention. I'm not very good at caring for others." Aneirin.
"Bronwyn, I'm sorry, I broke your boyfriend." Jessica.
"I push her out of the way, and run." Jessica.
"Hazard gets thrown about ten feet, and lands with a series of nasty crunches and a bubbling sound, beside a pair of feet you recognise instantly. Who else but Benedict would wear orange suede boots? He looks at the scene, and you can tell he is rather miffed." GM.
"Oh shit." Jessica
APOLOGY COUNT: Three. Jessica to Coral, Jessica to Hazard, Jessica to Moradin, in his coma. She gave out a general one too, but that doesn't really count.
Having agreed to go out on the town with Bronwyn, Hazard failed to pitch up, being busy with trying to find her father. By the time she went to look for Bronwyn, the girl had gone. Having not yet painted a trump card of Bron, Hazard had to go look for her. On the way she ran into Jessica, and overheard Jess talking to William about hurting Moradin. Hazard flipped and tried to injure Jessica, albeit only a little, and Jessica somehow managed to throw Hazard away far enough to impact a broken rib into her lung. William got stabbed for trying to stop Hazard getting at Jessica. Hazard landed at Benedict's feet as he came to look for her to talk about the situation with Rinaldo, and Jessica took one look at his face and ran.
Bronwyn had been wandering around town for a while when she managed to pick up a cherubic little boy who offered to guide her if she kissed him. She did, and they boy helped to put her back on the right path, but as they came out of an alley they were attacked by a hit-squad, headed by a handsome man in green and white. He drew his sword and started to beat the hell out of Bronwyn, and then Brion pitched up to help his ex-girlfriend.
Meantime, back at the castle... Josh was called once again, and he and Benedict patched Hazard up until she could shapechange and get herself healed. She then stared into the air for a while, looking at the future, before William came in to check how she was, and to show them a book he had found. Crowley's memoirs, (not yet written, but still existing out in Shadow.) They didn't ask questions, but read it. Benedict was the only one who understood most of it, but William found out why Crowley hated Benedict, and why the skin on his face did not grow back, and why Benedict was so cursed. Hazard continued to watch the future as she altered her shape so that her lungs were healthy enough to use, and then teleported away, despite Benedict's specific orders.
Brion was losing the fight with the man in green and white, though he had seen off most of the others, when Hazard pitched up, smiling grimly, and asked the man if he would like a real opponent. She beat him, and when he finally surrendered, collapsed on the ground and did a repeat of the coughing up blood episode. Brownyn, panicking, asked what to do, and between gasps Hazard told her to call Benedict and take her through.
Bronwyn did, and was virtually given the third degree by her uncle, who naturally assumed it was her fault for getting into a situation she could not deal with. This, although true, stung her pride, and Bronwyn Trumped out to find Brion and rescue Hazard's sword, Dirithas, which was in the mud. Benedict patched up Hazard, and, having been in loco parentis for her and her brother for most of their lives, informed her she would be gated if she did it again, as well as decommissioned. Besides which, he would sulk.
As Rinaldo was still missing, Coral had a quiet word with Jessica, and Jessica left the castle shortly afterwards, of her own accord, having been informed that if she did not leave of her own accord, she would be lucky if the guards got to her before Coral herself.
Even though her Trump was not working for anyone else, Hazard Trumped Jessica and told her to take someone to help her and go look for Rinaldo. When Jessica replied she could not even use Trump card, Hazard gave her a one-shot card of William. Jessica went out into Arden, and found that Julian refused to give her sanctuary - he has the hots for Hazard, so was pissed off Jess had injured her.
Hazard revealed something so dangerous to William that it does not appear here until it is common knowledge. William revealed to Jessica, when she Trumped him from Arden, that he had a secret he would not even tell to his ex-fiancée. She screamed at him and they parted. When she was attacked by red hairy men with guns, William, still following, fried them all, using raw Chaos from the Abyss, with a bit of Order to heat it all up nicely. Jessica, recognising the effect as one of Crowley's, fled. After nearly starving to death, she was helped out of the other side of Arden by a couple of amused foresters, who also fed her. There, Crowley said hello, and made polite small-talk on the subject of why Julian had to be killed - Crowley didn't like him. Jessica refused to hurt him - but had to think about it, after the way her had treated her.
Hazard pitched up, about ten seconds after Crowley left, and they had a meal together - either Hazard has stopped holding grudges of late, or she is saving up for the day she gets to kill Jess. When more red-and-hairies started turning up, Hazard boosted a protesting Jessica onto Bucephela, and told him to gallop home. However... Home, to Ceph, means Teraximion, Benedict's Shadow. The one which is directly connected to his mind.
All this time, Bronwyn was sobbing over Moradin's limp body. William was talking with Benedict about being sent out into Shadow on another secret suicide mission. Suddenly, Benedict, obviously in some kind of pain, ran from the room, and Trumped William on his way down to the Pattern, telling him he would not be available for a while.
At the end of the session, the group had split up again, with William in Amber, but about to leave, Bronwyn in Amber, vowing never to leave, Aneirin working on spells again, and having finally found out how to project his voice magically, Midnight and Fauna out in Shadow doing nothing much, and Jessica in deep shit, having just brought the Abyss into Teraximion for the first time. Oddly, when William had gone in, there had been no effect. William had never even figured in Hazard's dreams of the future, and she had hypothesised he did not exist.
