Everyone has lots of things that they like to do. This area is about some of the things that take up my time or attention. Write back if you have any comments.
My main hobby is law enforcement patch collecting. I have made a lot of friends doing this. My collection is small compared to other collections I've seen. Currently I have just over 4800 patches in my collection. If you would like to add to this, please email me and we can make a trade!
Computers have become one of my avocations. I use a Dell desktop which I have been very pleased with.
I enjoy surfing on the
Internet.
I have met some wonderful people here who have become very good
friends.
I have worked with a few on some special projects. I have learned to
care
very deeply for these dear friends and am taking the opportunity here
to
tell them how much they all mean to me. There have been some very
strong
bonds made which will hopefully last a lifetime.
This
year has been a major turnaround for my favorite Chicago
Bears . I live in Southwest Florida and am surrounded by Miami
Dolphin
fanatics. My friend and coworker Rob is also a Bears fan so at
least
I'm not alone down here.

Aviation
has always fascinated me. Growing up I loved to fly as much as
possible.
Fortunately, my father was employed with American Airlines and we could
fly on passes. As a result, I was able to travel all over the country
and
even made five trips to Europe. My goal early on was to become a
commercial
airline pilot, but poor vision kept me from this. I did however get my
private pilot's license in 1980,. I had a fantastic instructor named
Alan
Kloos who now lives in Mesa, Arizona. The last time I talked with him,
he was building an airplane in his garage. Flying can be a rather
expensive
hobby. Due to the relatively low income of a deputy sheriff, my flying
is now done on my computer on Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Space travel is just the next step in aviation. How many benefits we have received as a result of our space program is almost impossible to calculate. Many people do not realize the number of everyday products we use that are direct results of the research conducted for the US space programs. I probably would not be typing on this computer today if we had not had NASA. Nor would I be cooking lunch in the microwave, or enjoying cable TV movies.
Although I live about 200
miles
from the Kennedy Space
Center,
I can see the launches of the Space Shuttle from my front yard. The
night
launches are incredible. I encourage anyone who comes to Florida to
include
a visit to the Kennedy
Space
Center at Cape Canaveral. You will be amazed at what you see!
