Homer at 0900.
By 1000, the Band re-assembled in Steveston, and formed up
for the Steveston Salmon Festival Parade. Because it had been
assigned a place near the end of the parade, the Band spent
over 90 minutes waiting patiently in the warm sunshine. Once
under way, the 26 band members marched in column of fours to
complete the route in about 30 minutes. The large crowd warmly
received the Band on parade.

Hats Off Parade Report - June 02
|
The Band led the Parade down Hastings St.
in North Burnaby on Saturday from its position immediately
following the Flag and Color Party. Heavy showers during the
first half of the march soaked the twenty-four band members,
but spirits remained high as they completed the 1.9 km. march
in 30 minutes. This was the fifth consecutive appearance of
the Band in this Parade, and it has gotten longer in each of
the past two years!

Fort Langley Parade Report - May 21

 | Twenty-eight Band members marched in the

of non-stop marching (including marking time) to complete. The large
crowd showed their appreciation of the Band's bringing its brand of

Trip Report - Nelson, BC, May 4-6
|
The bus left the Drill Hall at 2030
Friday night, with five members of the Regiment, six Cadets,
and 14 members of the Band aboard. It arrived at the Kemball
Armoury in Trail at 0500. After two hours rest, it was time to
put on uniforms, get back on the bus, and have breakfast
before the one hour ride to Nelson. Shortly after arriving in
Nelson and meeting up with nine more Band members who had
driven from Vancouver, the Band marched from the Legion to the
City Hall for the rededication ceremony, then marched back to
the Legion for lunch.
The 44 Field Engineers Squadron invited the Band to play
for them at the site of their constructing a Bailey bridge
forming part of the Trans-Canada Trail. See the picture at 44
Fd Sdn's Web site.
In the late afternoon, the Band played a concert at the
Legion to an appreciative audience. By then pretty well
knackered by the bus ride and three playing engagements during
the day, Band members used the bus as an impromptu changing
room to get out of their uniforms.
For many, the highlight of the trip was the Roast Suckling
Pig dinner hosted by 44 Field Engineers Squadron, wrapping up
with an induction ceremony for three "pukka sappers".
The bus left Nelson at 2100, arriving back at the Drill
Hall at 0530 on Sunday, ending a tiring but memorable trip.

Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force. The British Columbia
Regiment is the perpetuating unit of the 7th Battalion.
The ceremony begins at 11:30 with a marching parade from
the Royal Canadian Legion to City Hall.

Sun Run 2001 April 22 |
The Band played a single, intense set of
over 1 hour and 10 minutes, pausing only to change music for
the different selections, as 45,000 Sun Run participants
streamed past our location in Stanley Park. The drummers
received the sympathy of the rest of the band as they played
the entire duration with NO break --- they played drum
cadences between selections.
The Band greatly enjoyed the event. Favorites among the
runners turned out to be "Colonel Bogey" and "Hogan's Heroes"!

Canadian Club Luncheon - Report
|
The February 15 engagement at the
luncheon with the Canadian Club of Vancouver saw approximately
20 band members (including a piper) able to make it. Daytime
mid-week engagements are difficult for many members to attend.
The Band accompanied longtime local big band leader, Dal
Richards, as he sang the National Anthem.
The 1st Cornet section presented the Band with the most
excitement of the day. The Band Director had called for the
playing of the regimental march of The British Columbia
Regiment, "I'm Ninety-Five". At the downbeat, the Band
dutifully began to play the march. Except for the 1st Cornets,
that is. They launched into the fanfare introduction to "Royal
Irish Rangers". As what they were playing was louder than what
the rest of the Band was playing, by the end of the fanfare,
everyone else had quickly gone to the appropriate page of
music, and joined in to finish "Royal Irish Rangers"!
