This quote just about sums up the feeling that one may get with respect to the attitude and actions that our Federal Government as taken over the past several decades toward the people of the United States of America :

"Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?"

- Patrick Henry ... 3 J. Elliot, Debates in the Several State Conventions 45, 2d ed. Philadelphia, 1836

"What, then, is legislation? It is an assumption by one man, or body of men, of absolute, irresponsible dominion over all other men whom they can subject to their power. It is an assumption by one man, or body of men, of a right to subject all other men to their will and their service. It is an assumption by one man, or body of men, of a right to abolish outright all the natural rights, all the natural liberty of all other men; to make all other men their slaves; to arbitrarily dictate to all other men what they may, and may not do; what they may, and may not, have; what they may, and may not, be. It is, in short, the assumption of a right to banish the principle of human rights, the principle of justice itself, from off the earth, and set up their own personal will, pleasure, and interest in its place. All this, and nothing less, is involved in the very idea that there can be any such thing as legislation that is obligatory upon those upon whom it is imposed."

"The sober people of America ... have seen that one legislative interference is but the first link of a long chain of repetitions, every subsequent interference being naturally produced by the effects of the preceding."

          -- James Madison, 1787

"The taxpayer -- that's someone who works for the federal government but doesn't have to take the civil service examination."

          -- Ronald Reagan

"Racial discrimination is now defended by our more advanced thinkers if it's called 'affirmative action'."

          -- Paul Greenberg

"No, Democracy is not identical with majority rule. Democracy is a State which recognizes the subjection of the minority to the majority, that is, an organization for the systematic use of violence by one class against the other, by one part of the population against another."

          -- V.I. Lenin, 1919

"If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed,if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and too costly, you may come to the moment you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a small chance of survival. There may even be a worse case: you may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."
-- Winston Churchill

"A fine is a tax for doing bad, and a tax is a fine for doing good."

"The penalty good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men."
-- Plato

"There are many facets to the truth. It is seldom necessary to use untruth to mislead. The truth will do equally well; better if the method of presentation is correctly chosen."
-- Unknown

"Impeachment did not have to be for criminal offenses -- but only for a 'course of conduct' that suggested an abuse of power or a disregard for the office of the President of the United States ... A person's 'course of conduct', while not particularly criminal, could be of such a nature that it destroys trust, discourages allegiance, and demands action by the Congress ... The office of the President is such that it calls for a higher level of conduct than the average citizen in the United States."
-- Hillary Rodham (Clinton), 1974

"Politicians never accuse you of 'greed' for wanting other people's money -- only for wanting to keep your own money."
-- Joseph Sobran

"Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything."
-- Josef V. Stalin

Isn't it sad that one of the best weapons the Democrats have to use against the Republicans is the Republicans' own INTEGRITY?
