The Local
Government Support Program (LGSP) was envisioned to assist the Philippine
Government in its decentralization program -a task made more urgent with
the passage of the Local Government Code of 1991. The Program aims to assist
in strengthening of local government units (LGUs) in Regions 6, 9, 10,
11, 12, the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), and the newly
created CARAGA Region (Region 13).
