STARS (Students Taking a Right Stand)
STARS is made
up of teachers and students working together to promote a drug-free and
healthy environment on campus. Prevention programs include encouraging
student abstinence; using positive peer groups; hosting drug-free dances,
sports events and lock-ins; educating about dating, relationships and life
skills; and developing student leadership. STARS students participate in
small group programs to help them get straight, stay straight, and/or cope
with other abusers. STARS is a very active organization on the MJJH campus.
Student Council
Student Council is involved in a variety of activities
including service projects, teacher appreciation, and sponsoring school
dances. Seventh and eighth grade students are involved. Student members
are chosen during their 7th grade year based on grades, teacher recommendation
and desire to serve MJJH. Some of our responsibilities include keeping
the hallway bulleting board updated and keeping the road sign out front
current.
Yearbook
The yearbook represents the school for that year.
People expect a professional looking book full of memories. In order to
achieve this, we expect a staff to have the following characteristics:
dedication, promptness, cooperation, creativity, good attendance, patience
and willingness to learn. We need students who can perform a variety of
functions, such as picture-taking, computer skills, ability to pay close
attention to details, and no fear of speaking to their peers. By the way,
we have FUN while we are doing these things! Both 7th and 8th graders are
involved with representatives from each mini-school. Students must have
good grades and good behavior. Poor grades or behavior will result in probabtion
and or suspension from the staff.
