GAME 11 HIGHLIGHTS
Lightning 1 - Hat Tricks 1
Kickoff time: 1:30 P.M. at Ed Fountain.
Wheather conditions: Nice.
Lightning managing at draw at Hat Tricks remain leader of the table and automatically Champion of the Fall Season '96. This has been the biggest achievement for the kids, coaches, parents with a final result of a team that started the season in a slow pace, shy and inexperience and that within the last 12 games have learned how to be tough and great little soccer players following the well tought soccer lessons by their coaches that have never gave up the persistance of teaching the rights and wrongs, the good and bad about the playing of the Sport. Congratulation to all Lightning members for a mervalleous season that exhibited good soccer every single game and demontrated some good beautiful entairtainment for the spectators whatching this amazing squad created from ground zero up and behaving with fair play and gentleman conduct and an enourmous desire of having fun and play better soccer to reach a goal within the team globally and determinded to achieve such dream to come thru. WELL THEY DONE IT ALL THE WAY.
With a very strategic line up and emphashization of the offside trap, all the formulas for this decisif game went in favor of Lightning all the first half. Hat Tricks couldn't barely enter Lightning zone without being caught offside. In the first half alone they got caught at least 15 times, giving Hat Tricks very little chances to come close to the penalty box. Lightning instead were stopped within Hat Tricks Penalty box with very good pressure and determination from their defenders, not giving Lightning chances to shoot on goal. And that was just that, only three or four opportunities but nothing came out from them.
Second half similar to the first half with fewer offside calls and both teams
triing to take the lead and at about the 15 minute a goof up of Lightning's defense
line found two Hat Tricks players onside when Bucky, playing as a defender for
this game and not aquainted much with the trap strategy, forget to push few
steps ahead. The two players unmarked breaked away with Bucky chasing #17 with
the ball and running at full speed could not prevent 17 to take the shot when he
reached the 18 yard mark and scored.
Exiting moment came after this with everybody wanting to take that goal back and
level the game at once. Several chances were missed from Lightning now, taking
few shots that were cleared to corners by the keeper or defenders. From the
corners had other open chances to score but nobody slid an head or a foot only
creating
some caos in Hat Tricks zone with well corners taken by Julian. On his third
corner he did it. The ball rebounded from a defender from the near post area, and after
following the ball himself with a precise lob in shot the ball went above everybody
reach to the far post corner of the net.
Emotional moments for everybody, some macarena and restrengh in the midfield, Hat Tricks
were stopped everytime they tried to come close to Lightning's penalty area.
Both teams have give their Best. The draw was well deserved for both teams although Hat
Tricks needed a win, Lightning today played well and the cards were on their side.
The officiating was good, the weather was just fine, the soccer showdown remarkable,
the sportmanship super, the play spectacular, basically fantastic in all aspects of Good
Soccer and Fair Play, which the fun and the enjoyment reached its Best.
All youth games should be similar or better to the one here described.
Lightning will play a friendly on Tuesday vs Outlaws to warm up and prepare for
Anhaeim Holiday Classic Tournament on Dec. 7-8. OH YEAH. WE ARE GOING TO DYSNEYLAND.
Cup Play will than be their priority on the return where they will be facing much stronger teams from Division A with little preparation short after the Trip.
