Page Plus Award Page Plus Jr. Award

There are millions of sites on the Web, but most of them elicit the reaction "Oh well.... just another average web page." The Page Plus award is intended to give recognition to those pages that stand out above the rest and to encourage better web page construction.

How can you tell if your page is a Page Plus?

The Page Plus is a page with content, whether it be informative, utilitarian, or entertaining. It is more than a simple collection of links or graphics.

The Page Plus is an attractive page. It shows an awareness of aesthetics on the part of the writer in the matter of layout, graphics, and color and does not assault the senses.

The Page Plus is a page that works. It contains no broken HTML, bad Java, broken image icons, or outdated links. Check to make sure that all of the pages work.

The Page Plus is a page that is user friendly. It loads quickly and does not cause browsers to crash. Excessive use of Java, Javascript, and selfloading audio files (at the beginning of the page code!) are not among the attributes of the Page Plus.

The Page Plus is a page that is sensitive to reasonable community standards. It contains no obscenity, whether verbal or visual.

The Page Plus is a page that shows respect for the written word. Finely crafted pages adhere to proper grammatical usage and correct spelling. Use a spell checker or a dictionary.

The Page Plus is written by a webmaster with manners. He or she WILL sign our guestbook if an award is expected, instead of flying by our site and filling out the form without even glancing at any of our other pages. If an award is granted he or she will acknowledge that the award is in place, linked back to our site, before a link to that site is added to one of our winners' pages. There will be NO exceptions to this rule. If this seems excessive or self-serving, the rudeness of some of our previous applicants is the cause.

Finally, the Page Plus is just a little bit more than all of this. It is something undefinably special, a page that sticks in one's memory when so many other pages become a blur of the past.

The Page Plus Jr. Award recognises that younger webpage writers should not be judged by the same rigid standards as adult page writers. All of the values listed above for the Page Plus award should also be found in a Page Plus Jr. website, but we will not be as strict in such matters as layout and choice of graphics and color. This award is for webmasters in the grade school and junior high school age range.
