Michael has all but taken me by the arm and dragged me into the computer/bird/book room and chained
me to the chair so I'll take the time to write something about myself. Michael is by far the more interesting
human of the family. I hope you won't be bored to tears reading this. Come to think of it, however, the only
people who will read this are likely to be friends and family, so what the heck.As Michael mentioned, I am a native of North Carolina, specifically Burlington, which is in Alamance County. I arrived in Columbus by way of Western Springs, IL, Emmaus, PA, and Greensboro, NC. My family moved quite a few times while I was growing up because Daddy was employed by AT&T. It was the next best thing to being an Army brat. I attended Bowling Green State University in scenic Bowling Green, Ohio where the highest point in the county is a hill created when the employees of the Highway Department found themselves with a bunch of dirt and stuff left over after digging an underpass. They piled it up near the University golf course, and now use it for ski instruction. The highest natural point in Wood County is also on the BGSU campus. It is the cemetery, which is located next to the Student Health Center. I'm not making this up. I majored in Creative Writing at BGSU, and am now active in the Creative Writing Alumni group. In 1983, I received a Master's degree in Labor and Human Resources from The Ohio State University. My hobbies are almost as varied as Michael's are. In addition to playing recorder, I read a lot. I mean, lots and lots. It's shameful how much time I spend with a book in my hands. I enjoy interacting with our birds, but not changing the papers, although that goes with the territory. I collect comic books, but not the standard DC and Marvel superhero stuff. I like Sandman, Love and Rockets, Bone, Flaming Carrot, and anything written by Grant Morrison. |
