#2 Cedar Bluff

Three miles east of Fair Grove on Hwy. E where Farm Road 30 intersects near the Cedar Bluff Baptist Church. Empty
The building standing is the original structure built in 1912, although an earlier school stood nearby.

#3 Fair Grove

Fair Grove, School District #3. reorganized as Fair Grove District R-X in 1954. The first school in Fair Grove was first built as a log home but later became known as Duke's School in 1846.

#4 Rogersville

No building
Reorganized as part of Logan-Rogersville School District R-VIII in 1957.

#6 New Hope

Hwy. 13 north, turn east on Hwy. CC. Approximately. 2 miles west of Fruitland on CC, past Hwy. H, near church.
Destroyed
School stood immediately east of the New Hope Church. Consolidated with Fair Grove in 1913 although a portion of the students also went to Pleasant Hope.

A story about Swadley school.

#7 Swadley

Hwy. 13, turn east on Hwy. CC, two miles, past bridge to "North Stokes Lane", a private drive. Turn left. School stood in Greene County at the end of private lane.

#8 Johnson

Destroyed
Stood near Fender Chapel along Hwy. 13 north of Springfield. Also known as Gumbo.

#9 Spring Hill

Located west of Hwy. 13 on Farm Road 6. Stands closest to Farm Road 119 on Farm Road 6
House
According to a deed, School District #9 was founded in 1923. School was consolidated with Morrisville in 1938 or 1939 with a few of the students going to Willard.

#10 Bird Eye

East of the intersection of Farm Road 119 and Farm Road 121.
Destroyed
Originally a mile east of present location. Reorganized in the 1950's to be included as part of Willard R-II. School was turned into a home and stood until early 1997 when the City of Springfield purchased it and tore it down.

#11 Lydy Hill

West of Bird Eye School. Might be near Farm Road 36 and Farm Road 149.
Destroyed
School was a split from Bird Eye School. Building was burned by an arsonist.

#12 Eagle

North of Willard at Hwy. Z and Farm Road 22.
Destroyed,
Originally built in 1919. Consolidated with Willard in 1923. Reorganized in the 1950s to be included as part of Willard R-II. Burned down Nov. 16, 1987.

#13 Whittenberg

Whittenberg Prairie 7 miles north of Willard.
Destroyed
Based on map, believed to have been consolidated with Walnut Grove. Closed in the 1920's. Students then went to Persimmon Grove, District #21.

#14 Luck

One-half mile west of Hwy. Z on Hwy. BB. Originally stood at Farm Road 10 and 75, south of the present site.
Church
Original name was Pleasant Hill. Guy Chapel location is not original site of school; moved in 1944 and again in 1949. Reorganized as Walnut Grove R-V in 1949. Now being used as Guy' s Chapel Baptist Church.

#15 Fair View (1)

Northeast corner of Hwy BB and Farm Road 61.
Destroyed
Stood north across Hwy. BB from Fair View Church. Reorganized as Walnut Grove R-V in 1949.

#16 Walnut Grove

Destroyed
The first Walnut Grove school was a small one room wooden building built in 1903. It burned in 1908. Original brick and rock school (built in 1909) was torn down in 1997 to make way for a new school.

#17 Flint Hill (1)

North of Hwy. U, immediately east of Farm Road 17.
Destroyed
School mentioned in Holcomb History books in 1870.

#18 McBee

Northwest corner of Farm Road 34 and Farm Road 21.
Barn
Located near Concord Church. Still stands but is surrounded by metal farm buildings. Reorganized as Walnut Grove R-V in 1949.

#19 Phenix

Farm Road 45, south of 34. Stood on west side of the road.
Destroyed
By 1932 this was identified as a two-room school house. Reorganized as Walnut Grove R-V in 1949. Also known as Liberty. Building was still standing in the 1980's.

#20 Harold

South of Farm Road 34, immediately west of Farm Road 45
Destroyed
Reorganized as Walnut Grove R-V in 1949.

#21 Persimmon Grove

Hwy. 123 to Farm Road 75; take 75 north to a "T" in the road to Farm Road 34. Stands east of Farm Road 34 at Farm road 75.
Barn
Reorganized as Walnut Grove R-V in 1949.

#22 Silver Star

County line north of Hwy. 160 on Farm Road 1.
House
First building burned down. It was rebuilt and used until consolidation. Stood on west side of Farm Road 1 meaning it was in Dade County.

#23 New Site

Located three and one-half miles northwest of Ash Grove. Stands at northwest corner of Farm Roads 52 and 9.
Community Center
Building covered in poison oak. Sign on building says Built in 1876". Reorganized as part of Ash Grove R-IV in 1949.

#24 Kelly

Northeast of Ash Grove 3/4 mile. Northeast of Farm Road 64 and Farm Road 39. Stood on south side of the road.
Destroyed
This school was also sometimes called Center. Reorganized as part of Ash Grove R-IV in 1949

#25 Pearl

South of Farm Road 52, west out of Pearl (located along Hwy. 123).
Destroyed
Consolidated with Willard in 1923. Reorganized in the l950's to be included as part of Willard R-III.
