This page contains links to
some of the on-line magazines that I have found on the internet.
Most publications on the internet, are abbreviated versions of
the current issue, to get you interested into buying the
magazine. With competition though, more and more of the current
articles are appearing from each issue. Also features such as
searching for archive articles, daily or weekly updates, provide more
information sometimes before the actual released of the
publication and, in some cases, includes articles that are not
even available in print. This page is broken into sections
including;
plus a highlighted current Favorite Magazine. I have found many publishers sites that contain links to several magazines which I will also reference.
Our favorite magazine of the moment is usually the one that came in last. Currently I have selected the National Geographic Magazine because it is not only a great collectable item (I have been collecting them since 1968), but also due to the great on-line site they have. It not only covers the current edition, but expands to cover the other events. The area I have used most myself is the on-line index that allows me to find articles in my collection electronically.
I would currently suggest Microsoft's Slate. It is a very good attempt at an only on-line Magazine. It usually deals with current (mostly political) topics and issues.
I enjoy computer magazines. They let me know what is going on in the industry. I frequently learn as much from the advertisements as I do from the articles. Most of the Computer magazines I receive are free. The advertisers pay for the publication with the understanding that the majority of the recipients are purchasers of their products. When filling out a free subscription card, emphasize all of the possible purchasing influences you may have, not matter how slight.

PC Today contains features and reviews of mostly hardware computer products. One of the regular features I enjoy most is MarketWatch. This is where they show the price trends of the various components of a PC computer. They also have an online site for Subscription, Product Reviews and a PC Cyber Shop for on-line purchasing. | |
PC Week is a weekly free magazine that contains computer hardware and software companies news, product reviews, features and lots of advertisements. PC Week has an extensive on-line site that is updated every weekday. I use their archives to find the top 10 products of whatever peripheral I am currently on the watch for. | ![]() |
The only computer magazine that I subscribe to was CD-ROM Today which unfortunately seems to have disappeared from the market. In it's place I have been receiving Boot which, like CD-ROM Today, reviews CD-ROM Programs with lots of demo software. They complement their magazine with a slick online site.
This is getting harder because it seems that most all of the 'off the shelf' magazines also have web site pages, but the mostly off-line magazine I recommend are still the big pictural types such as Life and Look. These magazines are published less frequent and I wonder sometimes about their life expectancy (no pun intended) but they are still beautiful to look at.
Sometimes I write articles which may or may not be published. I hope to soon provide a collection of some of my latest articles.
