In Memory of . . .

Those Gerbies We Have Lost = (

Every pet owner has to face the day their pet dies. Whether it's sudden, or whether you saw it coming a mile a way, it still hurts. Whenever I lose a gerbil, I always have a terrible sense of loss. In order to combat that, I often create a memorial to that particular gerbil, if I really had them long enough to have anything to say. Here are memorials for those gerbs that have died while this site was open (well except Missy):

      Danis:

        Missy
        Alpha
        Splotch
        Monny &Joey
        Pookie
        Ben

      Lautreras:

        Enola
        Cupid & Valentine
        Whye
        Wee & Ail
        Ciaran & Phoebe

      Foxes:

        Dana #1
        Emily

      D'Arcey's:

        Banner

I would also like to mention a few others that have died in the past. Firstly, I would like to mention Ross Dani, littermate to Ben, Joey, Monny, Phoebe, etc. He was a black male gerbil who lived with Ben, Monny and Joey for about a year. Then, in June of 1997, he escaped, and we never saw so much as a trace of him. Another black gerbil, a female, and Ross's littermate, is Rachel. Rachel spent 14 months of her life with Phoebe, until one day she knocked the lid of her tank, did a little exploring in my room, and then was caught by my cat, Scamper, by the door to my closet = ( Also, there's my brother's male pied dove, Casper. Casper was a lonely old fellow, as we didn't know at the time that you could put two males together, but he was a sweetheart. He, too, was caught by the cat . . though I don't remember when.

Also worth mentioning is Chandler, an agouti female from the same litter as Phoebe, etc. She, too, escaped and got caught by the cat. Thankfully, the cat hasn't gotten to any of my gerbils since August 1997, which was the last time we've had an escape!

Please, also, keep in mind some of the pups we've lost along the way.

€ Dimetapp Dani, argente male from litter #2, died at 3 weeks of a respiratory illness that I didn't know how to treat at the time.
€ Grammy Dani, black female from litter #3. I think . . but I'm not sure . . . that she was dropped by my sister, or my friend.
€ Oscar Dani, agouti male from litter #3. I think he, too, might have been dropped. It's really too long ago for me to remember.
€ Mairi Lautrera, from Lautrera litter #3, died at age 1.5 days from unknown reasons, but obviously natural causes of some sort.
€ Cream Lautrera, from Lautrera Litter #5, died at age 1 day from unknown reasons.
€ Wait Lautrera, from Lautrera litter #5, died age 1.5 days from unknown reasons.
€ Elsewhere Lautrera, from Lautrera litter #5, died age 4 weeks by accident = ( Memorial on the litter's page.
€ Meteo Fox, from Fox Litter #2, died age 1 day old from natural causes.
€ Jylian and Jayda Reilly, from Reilly Litter #4 died of natural causes age 1 day.
€ Itta Reilly, from Reilly Litter #5, died of natural causes age 1 day.
€ Diagno, Sebastian, and Elantra Kelly, from Kelly Litter #4 died of unknown causes age 3 weeks.
€ Dana's 1 lone pup, killed by Eve when I tried to foster it, born 12/1/98 = (

I would also like to mention that my cat, Scamper, died on Monday, June 22nd, 1998. He was 16 years old. I will make a memorial page for him as soon I'm feeling up to it and can gather enough photos. We buried him in our backyard under the holly tree, his grave is marked by a circle of rocks. I miss him = (

Thank you for visiting the hall of my little angels. All Danis were buried in a shady patch of ground by the back door to my house. After that got crowded I began to bury them across the street. Some graves are marked, but most are not. However, Missy and Chandler's grave is marked by a large, large rock. Missy was the first adult gerbil I ever lost.
