Perry Commodore Cyphers Perry Cyphers Sets A Jail Mattress On Fire

"I don't know how true this is. But it's a story that was told to me. I was just a kid when this was supposed to have happened."

"Poppy was arrested a few times for drinking. They would take him into the jail and let him sober up and then let him go. One time when they arrested him, they put him in the jail and locked him up. Come to think of it, I think it was one of Poppy's brothers who arrested him. He had a brother who was a police officer back then. When they put him in the cell, nobody was around and Poppy was upset about being arrested. So he pulled the jail mattress into the middle of the cell and set it on fire."

"Another time that he was arrested the jailers told him if he'd promise to vote Republican, that they'd let him go. They made him sign a paper saying he was Republican and they let him go. I don't know if he ever kept his promise to vote Republican."
