Outdoors & Sports

• Early to bed,
  Early to rise,
  Fish all day...
  Tell big lies.



• I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in tune once more.

• Fishing is much more than casting and retrieving and playing your catch. It's the wind in your face, and the sound of wakening birds as the sun peeks over the horizon. It's discovering the magic in each new place and unlocking the mysteries that lurk there.



• Skiing is like a dance with the mountain. You move with ease from side to side, suspended by a magical thread somewhere between heaven and earth.



• Running is a road to self-awareness and self-reliance...you can push yourself to extremes and learn the harsh reality of your physical and mental limitations or coast quietly down a solitary path watching the earth spin beneath your feet. But when you are through, exhilarated and exhausted, at least for a moment everything seems right with the world.



• It was on that road and at that hour that I first became aware of my own self, experienced an inexpressible state of grace, and felt one with the first breath of air that stirred, the first bird, and the sun so newly born that it still looked not quite round.



• The stars are constantly shining, but often we do not see them until the dark hours.



• I hate golf; I hate golf; "Nice shot"; I love golf...



• The Competitor's Creed
  The contest lasts for moments
  though the training's taken years.
  It wasn't the winning alone
  that was worth the work and tears.
  The applause will be forgotten,
  the prize misplaced.
  But the long, hard hours of practice
  will never be a waste!
  For in trying to win you build a skill;
  you learn that winning depends on will.
  You never grow by how much you win,
  you only grow by how much you put in.
  So in any new challenge you've just begun,
  put forth your best and you've already won!
