That done, here's the last order of business (thanks for hanging in there!)...
Rant time! Run now. Geocities and Yahoo! have joined forces. And, for all those who don't know, they have changed their Terms Of Service. The wording in one of the paragraphs suggests that anything uploaded to Geocities becomes Geocities' property. This seems to include fanfic. This made many people unhappy, including myself.
In response to all the uproar, Yahoo! Geocities has updated its TOS yet again. The newest Terms are a little more specific about their rights to content, saying:
"Yahoo does not claim ownership of the Content you place on your Yahoo GeoCities Site. By submitting Content to Yahoo for inclusion on your Yahoo GeoCities Site, you grant Yahoo the world-wide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, modify, adapt and publish the Content solely for the purpose of displaying, distributing and promoting your Yahoo GeoCities Site on Yahoo's Internet properties. This license exists only for as long as you continue to be a Yahoo GeoCities homesteader and shall be terminated at the time your Yahoo GeoCities Site is terminated. "Yet, still, Geocities has problems. Even before these new TOS came out and everybody started angsting about the issue, I was considering moving this site off of Geocities. This would mean a lot of work, lots of confusion, updating bookmarks, and probably lots of broken links. If it seems this all adds up to too much hassle, I'll keep this site on Geocities. If you have any opinion either way, or if you can suggest a good free server to move this site to, please e-mail me. Thank you.
